No. The finish is a high gloss from end to end. Really holds thier shine, too!

Can you sharpen the knives without losing the black coloring?

Why would you sharpen them? they are plenty sharp to cut even tough steak.

Yes, you can. We have tested it in the dishwasher before leaving the factory. However, please use a mild detergent and also dry the surface after washing. Thank you very much!

Are they black and do they cut well?

I don’t know if they come in the color black. These knives don’t cut well. Mostly for looks. Mine arrived dull. Although, they are a step up from regular butter knives. Do not purchase these. There are better products to be had.
