New pool owner here. How does this product work in order for me to vacuum my pool? Does this connect to the vacuum hose? Thanks!

Yes. This is for an in-ground pool ok. you turn off you pool pump and set this on top of your basket, attached a hose to it (15 x 2x2 inches) I got an extension since my vacuum hose was short. I got the Milliard pool vacuum hose - 5 hoses for pool/spa cleaners. Make sure to let water in on your vacuum hose , drop in the pool and turn on your pump. this its all. its very simple and does a great job.

can I use this with the SP1096? If not, can you tell me which one is compatible?

It does work very well. Does not create enough seal to have good suction. It is a waste of money

What does the rubber gasket look like and where can I get one?

I do not know where to get it. But it is round.
