Great cargo bag, heavy duty and rainproof
This is a great bag and worth the money. We've used it with a Honda Pilot, for 2 long trips. One trip was 2000 miles round trip with 4 adults and 3 kids, and the bag is large enough to hold everything for a 1 week trip. It rained for a long time, so hard you had to pull off the highway, and the inside stayed bone dry. The second trip was about 1000 miles RT, and we again had lots of heavy rain. No problems. Its heavy construction and also has nice hold down straps. The zipper gets covered by an extra flap which keeps the zipper from leaking. Its a little awkward to load because of the soft sides, but thats a small matter.

Works as promised, except for the muffler
Product has worked well for the last 2 trips. Have gone through rain traveled on gravel roads with not water or dust issues. The straps appear to be holding fine, no concern to need an additional tie down or strap to hold it in place. When we arrived at my parents for Thanksgiving I noticed that one of the straps had melted and the laminated fabric had de-laminated. I am not sure why this happened, it was all highway driving except for our 10 min stop at Subway for dinner which I kept the car running while my wife went into the store. I placed some gorilla duct tape on it and it held for the return trip. Going to see how long the tape lasts, but would buy another bag if I need to. I moved the bag further away from the exhaust on the return trip, but with the bag being 54" wide, not able to get it to far from the tail pipe. Update: next trip I used some old dryer vent exhaust duct that I cut apart to make a flat shield to try and deflect the exhaust, no luck. Bag is shot, had to throw away.

Great addition to cargo rack
I already had a trailer hitch gear rack that plugs into my SUVs 2" class IV hitch but wasn't satisfied that I could protect my gear from wet weather - so I went to good old Amazon.com on a search for a solution. I selected the Highland Cargo Bag because it assured rainproof protection and because the size and design appeared to be best for my rack. The cost was reasonable. Having used this bag several times now, I can say that it really is a good product and will absolutely keep my tailgating gear dry. The bag is a heavy vinyl exterior over a strong luggage style canvas material. It has sewn in strap mounting points (6 of them) that are substantially reinforced allowing for cinching up tight on the rack. I haul all the cooking gear for our tailgate group, camp stove, oven, broiler box, grilling plates and more, and get it all inside this bag. I love it and it has kept me from having to go to a small trailer to protect the gear. I would make one recommendation to the manufacturer and that would be to allow the top zippered flap to open 3/4 instead of only one end and one side. This would make loading a bit easier. The bag has a deep storm flap that covers the heavy zippered opening and secures with industrial quality Velcro. Very thoughtfully designed product that is truly weatherproof and actually looks good when in service as well as providing privacy for your gear. No regrets on this purchase; it is doing everything I wanted and looks like it will last a long time.

Good bag that kept things dry
The bag is a typical ruberized heavy gauge vinyl that is fairly well constructed. As a soft-sided bag, it doesn't take form until you load a few things, but that wasn't much of a problem. It has a lot of room inside and held quite a few suitcases and other items. The zippers are a little stiff and only go along the front and one side, but they work well and it was a reasonable trade-off to help keep the price down. The straps are reasonable, but I wouldn't trust them to secure my cargo. Not only was I concerned they'd rip free from the bag, but the webbing easily slides on the lock ring they provide and thus easily slipped through the holes on my carrier (when it wasn't supposed to). The later was easily solved by not using the lock rings and instead tying the ends off while the former was resolved with some cheap crimp ties (I wouldn't use ratchet ties unless you want to risk crunching your unseen cargo). We traveled 1000 miles (from Florida to Michigan), and encountered quite a lot of heavy rain so I was quite pleased to find everything nice and dry inside once we got home. Now that I'm back home, I'm glad it folds up into a nice small box and I don't have something big to store. A good product with a fair price and I'd defintely by it again.

Survived a wet camping trip - durable in the bed of my pickup truck
I don't have a camper shell for the bed of my pickup truck and I needed something that would keep camping supplies dry. A few years ago I got a bag (also available on Amazon) made by Rage Powersports. It is the 19.6 cubic ft. extra large cargo carrier bag. That particular bag is really big and very well built...but they sure have gone up in price and I wanted something that was a little less $$. Seeing the mostly positive reviews for this Highland bag and the decent price, I decided to give it a try. First, it is smaller than the Powersport bag...but you sure can put a lot of stuff in this. I had my Coleman canopy, tents, sleeping bags, and a few other things in this bag and probably could of put a few more things in. Combining this bag, with my Powersports bag, I had plenty of room to hold all of the families camping gear and keep it dry in the bed of my truck. The bag is built well. It is a heavy vinyl material that is pretty durable. From packing, riding, sliding, to pulling...this bag held up to the challenge. To tears or rips. The zipper is big and held up to me having to pack...zip...unzip...put something else in...zip....multiple times. The bag comes some straps that can be attached to help secure it to cargo carriers. I didn't need those because I kept it in the bed of the truck...but the straps look like they'd do the job that they are intended for. We had rain during our trip and the bag kept everything dry. My recommendation is to just make sure that you cover the zipper with the flap that runs around the bag. This flap has velcro on it to help keep that flap secure over the zipper. If water gets in this thing...it is because there is a hole in the vinyl or it is getting in through the zipper. This bag is smaller when compared to the gigantic 19.6 cubic ft Rage Powersports one but it held plenty for me. Both bags are a little awkward to pack because they are essentially bags that do not retain the nice square shape that you see in the picture. One difference between this bag and the Rage Powersports bag is that this one has the zipper stopping a little sooner which hinders how far you can open the top of the bag. This didn't present a problem but I did have to adjust how I put some of my larger items in. I can understand their logic in designing it like this however....less zipper mean less potential water leakage. I recommend this bag. Plenty of room, durable, and it handled the wet weather that was thrown at it. I liked the price of it and I think it will hold up well for the yearly camping trip. Update: 7/11/15 This bag has been holding up very well. I have used it several times now and for the most recent trip it endured very strong rains and hail. Not a single leak inside. I've stuffed it with all kinds of camping equipment and the bag is plenty tough handle my trips into the mountains. I still highly recommend this bag!

Great Cargo Bag!
I ordered this bag to keep the rain off my luggage. I went on a trip to Orlando, Fl and this bag performed great. It is made of a durable, rainproof material. The zipper is strong and there are velcro tabs on the bag that cover the zipper. The zipper only opens in the back and at the left end. I like this beacuse it makes the bag much more durable and waterproof. The really nice thing about this bag are the straps. The straps are easy to put onto the bag and attach directly to the cargo carrier. I would definitely recommend this bag to anyone looking for a cargo bag. I have a 2012 Toyota Highlander. This bag held 4 carry on suitcases, a case of water, two backpacks, six jackets, and two bags of snack items. I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Adequate bag if handled very gently
I was happy with this bag after unpacking but quickly found myself disappointed after test fitting it to my rack. After the test fit I noticed a few small holes in the outer vinyl layer. They didn't go all the way through to the interior but I didn't have confidence that this product would be water tight after more than one trip. After a week and over 1000 miles I have found a few more small holes in the exterior layer but it did keep the contents dry over the course of the whole trip. I did have another problem with this product but it was totally my fault. I didn't pay attention to the relation of exhaust to the bag after mounting and packing. The heat from the exhaust melted the outside and inside of the bag. It also melted one of the nylon mounting straps. But as I said, I realize that this was my fault and not a fault of the product. I just wanted to mention it to make anyone else interested in the bag aware of the potential damage that can be cause by the exhaust.

Does The Job, but needs better tie-downs
got this for a family road trip. held everything we needed it to hold but not a big fan of how the included tie-downs worked. I ended up cris-crossing a couple 14' ratcheting tie-downs. Everything remained dry but didn't really see much moisture while being used. Also, though not really the bag's fault but more of the location of the exhaust pipe on my wife's Patriot, the heat from setting still at idle for a few minutes started to melt the bag. Be sure your exhaust is either directed away or fab up a little heat shield.
