does it work on Xbox one

After buying this item specifically for my XBOX One, when it arrived I tried it out and it didn't work on my console, but it did on my son's XBOX 360.

Yes but it's only the power cord from the wall to the slim power supply.

mine came with 3 prongs- can I still use it without it messing up anything?
