Once a month to help clean the lines out. I also clean my filter weekly. It’s all about the PM people. Used this in our old dishwasher once we moved in, and it cleaned it up good. It was an older model but did its job. Once that one died, literally, I’ve continued to use in our new one to keep it running and cleaning great.

I bought these because regardless of using a rinse aid I still had a film left on my dishes and cutlery. I suspect it’s from the pods I am using and not the cleanliness of my dishwasher. Honestly besides looking/ smelling clean I didn’t notice a difference in the quality of my wash so I’m unsure if they are essential unless your machine is dirty.
