Great for color blind people with dementia
I am a caregiver and have found this Shape Sorting Puzzle perfect for the elderly with or without dementia. There are 3 separate puzzle boards, so the player won't get board because you can mix up the 3 puzzle boards, turn them around, and make various setups which makes the puzzle more challenging each time you play it. Initially my patient took 20 minutes to complete the puzzle, but after a few weeks of playing it, he's down to 5 minutes and loves his accomplishment. I chose this version because he is color blind. Putting the puzzle together does not require the use of color. I highly recommend this version for young and old. It's fun, multi-level when you mix up the boards, provides fun and a sense of accomplishment! <3

Nicely made !
A nicely made set. I got it for my mother to work with. She's going towards 104 yrs old, & anything we can do to keep her mind sharp & keep small finger muscles moving is a plus !

Good game
I purchased this game for my grandmother who suffered from dementia. We wanted to find games that would help to keep her entertained and promote mental stimulation. She did not completely understand this game, but the pieces were relatively easy to handle. The colors were nice too.

All the different shapes fit perfectly inside the cut outs.
I like that you can mix the shapes up and challenge a child or elderly patient to use dexterity in placing shapes back into cut outs. My dad has dementia & Alzheimer's and he's able to use the puzzle, master it and have confidence to be proud of. The only thing I wish it had would be a box to contain the pieces back into cut out spaces. I place the whole thing in zip lock bag. This also would be good for arthritis & hand surgery patients because you have to be able to pinch.

You Must Watch The Person Use This
I gave this to my elderly dad, who has Alzheimer's, hoping that it would help keep him occupied. He didn't pay too much attention to the puzzle, so we just left one strip of puzzle with the loose pieces on his tray in front of him. We gave him some cake to eat, and didn't think too much about the puzzle. I turned away, and when I looked back, he had finish his cake, and had one of the puzzle pieces right in front of his mouth. I could not grab it in time, before he put the piece into his mouth. He wouldn't open his mouth because he was confused, but luckily, I was able to forcefully open his mouth and remove the puzzle piece by putting my fingers into his mouth to pull it out. It did not seem that he would voluntarily open his mouth and spit it out. So if you purchase this for someone with mid-late stage Alzheimer's, you just have to watch over that person all the time and cannot take your eyes off the person while the puzzle is in front of them. Because of this episode, I am not using this puzzle for my dad anymore. I'm currently looking for another puzzle with much larger pieces.

Like a kid again
My mom did really well with this one. She can still comprehend shapes and there are so many. A few are very similar and present a challenge.

The best puzzle for dementia I got so far.
I bought my dad bunch of different puzzles but this one is the only one he can solve. It stopped him from being frustrated and giving up. Now I understand that too much information like different colors, shapes and words gets him confused. He can concentrate on only ONE thing.
