NEW - Art of Problem Solving: Beast Academy Grade 2 Complete Books Set (8 Books) - Math Guide 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D & Math Practice 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D Review: Interesting math books - Very interesting math books for children. I recommend this series to everyone. Review: Superb intro to math thinking - I arrived at those books via the Art of Problem Solving (AOPS) series. I am an adult and love Mathematics, having already a degree in Physics. But AOPS series is, in my opinion, interesting for any age, although their target public is middle and high school teenagers. Beast Academy introduces arithmetic, algebra and geometry and is very pleasant to read, targeted for elementary and middle school kids. For each grade there are four guides, each guide having a related practice book. The guide is written in comic book style, which makes reading very pleasant. The characters - student and teacher “monsters” - discuss math concepts, that are introduced in a very pleasant pace. I love the way they do that, because the students make mistakes that we also make, and in the discussion different strategies appear. As we proceed in the series, the little monster students grow, as we did in their age, so the guides are very carefully written. The practice books are essential and should be used in the order suggested along with the guides. The exercises are delightful! Some are pretty hard even for adults, and train the mind for more advanced material in the AOPS series later. It can be used with profit even by adults because it does not water down the subject. The grade 2 series develops counting, addition and subtraction, and trains the mind to do those operations very rapidly and with intelligence. It is a pleasant refresher for an adult like me and simply the best intro I know for young kids.

I would recommend it!
My kid loves the stories. They seem to pull her in by the stories and characters, and the math problems are aligned with her age group.
