Can I use this for live crabs ?

Yes!! We’ve cooked live lobsters, used it for shrimp boils, plus fried numerous things esp medium size turkeys & whole chickens . You can deep fry, boil or make stews & soups for large groups. It’s very versatile & we love it!!

Why won't flame stay lit at all? Flame would stay lit by itself.

I don't have that problem. The flame can be adjusted slightly with by adjusting the air vent. And of course there is the timer that is attached to the regulator. It shuts off the fuel. The timer is a little tricky (hold a button while pushing another button). But mine didn't have any issues
