Alpine North Women's Vegan Down Drawstring Winter Parka Down Alternative Coat

If your only concern is comfort, warmth, and a vegan alternative to down... this might be the perfect option for you. However, I want all those things and also want to feel cute. Instead, I felt more like a big navy marshmallow. It was puffy in the wrong places. I'm super picky about the appearance of coats because I'm already 5'10 and 160 pounds and don't need any help looking bigger than I already am. I got a size small and it was plenty roomy to layer under, so I'd say this coat runs slightly large. I may have even been able to fit an xsmall (not a normal size for me), but it might have been too tight in the chest. Overall, super cute coat that seems to be of decent quality and certainly worth a try. The drawstring waist and elastic cuffs were really nice features. Color was beautiful. But I'm returning it and continuing the search for a functional AND flattering coat.

Before this coat, I spent years being cold with less than ideal vegan down alternatives. This year, I decided I had enough and wanted to actually be warm in the winter. I did some extensive research and found this coat—a surprisingly affordable option. I am very pleased with my purchase. It is like wearing a soft, warm marshmallow/sleeping bag hybrid. I am very glad to be warm! The coat is fairly large which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. I’m 5’10”, 145 lbs and went with a small. I suspect I would have been swimming in a medium, even with thick sweaters. The waist was gigantic and unfortunately hit a little higher than my true waist. The coat itself looks a bit bulky, but is really no different than any other actually warm winter coat. My biggest pet peeve is that the zipper isn’t a double zipper—if I could unzip part of the bottom part I think this would be a 5+ star review.

I love how warm this coat is, and it seems to be well made of good materials. But there are some design flaws that are annoying and could have easily been changed. --The pockets are too high and open at the top. If you like to keep your hands in your pockets, no good. --There is no vent at the bottom and only one zipper which zips from the very bottom. To sit wearing the coat you have to pull the coat up as it gets tight at the bottom. --The little loop at the neck for hanging on a hook is teeny-tiny, and only secured at one point instead of two. Mine ripped off the first week. --The hood is not detachable. If you have long hair and don't put the hood up it looks bulky and sloppy.

Something is off about the fit and make. Design needs to be upgraded. Colour is not as seen in the ad. Much darker/bland for the couple I tried. Ordered an XS, a small, and a medium—none of them worked for me. Xs was okay-ish but way too snug for practical use. Minus 2 stars. Not a winter jacket I would recommend.
