Oh what can I say about true talcum? Many of the powder products are using cornstarch. Cornstarch is a thickener. When you add it to fluid it makes a gluey, clumpy mess. If I'm sweating I don't want to have put cornstarch on my body to make a sticky feeling. I'm not making gravy here people! I'm trying to stay fresh and dry with a light scent. This actually fills the bill. It keeps you fresh and dry with a silky feeling. I highly recommend. And the container is very cute with a little powder Puff that is great for easy application. It does not disappoint. Yardley is a trusted tried and true product and comes in many scents. This is a very nice one.

This is the third Woods of Windsor powder product I've tried and I love it! I've purchased both their lavender and their rose powder and liked both of them, too, although I'm having a hard time if my favorite is the lavender or the lily of the valley fragrance. Some people have complained about the packaging. I think they've improved the powder "spilling" problem by shipping the powder container in shrink-wrap. You still have to be careful when you first open the box, and maybe open it over a plate so you can catch any powder that spills. Some people have also mentioned that the black fabric pull tab on the top was missing and that they had to cut the top of the box off. I don't know why they did that. You can just twist the container lid off even if the pull-tab is missing. Maybe they didn't realize that? Seems obvious to me, since that's how most powder boxes are made??? A lovely product with a delightful, fresh, light fragrance. Will continue to purchase their products.

The reviews here are baffling. I can't believe how many people don't know how to open the container of a box of powder with a puff! This is NOT some new design, this is how boxes of body powder have been made for generations. Some people complained that the ribbon "handle" pulled right off when they pulled on it. Others complained that their powder box didn't have a ribbon "handle" at all. I can appreciate that the manufacturer might be leaving the ribbons off now, for the simple reason that so many people are confused by it! Spoiler alert: It's NOT a handle! The box opens by holding the cylinder by its sides, giving a slight twist to get it started, and lifting the entire cylinder up. Helpful hint - use both hands. One to hold the box by the bottom rim and the other to lift off the sides and top all in one piece. I can't believe that people are actually cutting their way into the box! Egad. As for the product itself, it has a light floral scent, but if it's Lily of the Valley it's very vaguely Lily of the Valley. It smells more like a mix of florals rather than one note, and I don't recognize Lily of the Valley in there at all. It's an OK fragrance, but it smells fairly generic to me, and definitely not upscale. It also seems to fade quickly once applied. Generally I can still notice the scent of body powders for at least several hours, but this one faded almost immediately. That said, it is still talc, and very smooth and silky on the skin. Much moreso than, say, cornstarch based products. But class action suits against Johnson & Johnson for alleged cancer caused by use of their talcum powder has resulted in many manufacturers discontinuing use of talc in body powder (it's still used in many other cosmetics), even though after much scientific research and numerous studies, the results have been inconclusive and there has never been any definitive proof that asbestos contamination in the talc has actually ever caused gynecological cancers. But if you want to avoid talc, don't buy this one.

I absolutely adore this dusting powder. The Lily of the Valley sent is subtle but noticeable, and if you close your eyes you can imagine yourself in a Victorian drawing room, perhaps visiting with other ladies or maybe awaiting a gentleman caller.... :) Scent is long lasting at the feel is silky. A little goes a long way so it lasts a while. The only downside, the ribbon on the pouf will pull its stitching, you you'll have to reinforce it, wither with a couple extra stitches, or just small safety pins. Or buy a separate body powder container that comes with a handled pouf.

The scent is very delicate, but pleasant. The floral package is pretty. Maybe I missed the memo where it said to push down on the perforated top to open the package. The perforations aren’t at all obvious. Unfortunately, after it’s open, there’s no way to put the pretty “lid” back on. Getting the powder out of the base, which is covered by a paper with holes on one half requires a game of shaking some out and try to slid it over to the half without holes so you can put it on the puff. It’s good for shipping and keeping the powder dry but not for dispensing the powder. Soon, I’ll just cut out the paper cover completely. The puff is flat and doesn’t hold the powder very well.

I like everything about this product. The container is a bit smaller than what I recall as a child (I'm 79 now). The scent is light (lily of the Valley), the powder puff is soft, and it evokes memories of spending time with my Granny and Pop as a child. I use it after bathing and feel fresh and comforted each time. Try not to create a powder storm when applying so as not to inhale any.

(Originally ranked 5 stars) I purchased this at Marshall's, but came here looking for it so I could buy some more when mine runs out. I love dusting powder, but it's getting harder and harder to find. This powder is silky soft, the puff is a good size (not too large or small), and the packaging is sturdy. I keep the plastic insert mine has to keep the puff fresh, and off the powder when not in use. I love using this before bed - it sweetly scents the sheets, and is so soft and subtle a fragrance. Will definitely buy this again and will get it here when I do. UPDATED REVIEW: Since I wrote the review above, I've run out of my original purchase from Marshall's. I ordered the Amazon item above and received it last week. I can't possibly say how DISAPPOINTING this powder now is. It no longer has the sweet light fragrance of lily of the valley. As one other reviewer noted, it really does smell just like an off brand of baby powder. I do plan to write to Woods of Windsor directly and tell them how sad it is that they have clearly ruined a beautiful scent by changing their formula. Having them side by side, I really can tell the difference, and it is NOT subtle. Knocking this down to one star - and they only get that for the nice packaging and silky feel of the product.

Nothing like a light dust of bath powder after shower or bath. Sooo nice, especially in warmer or humid weather. Fragrance is light using REAL & PURE TALC, not the “cornstarch nonsense” ( really, that legal claim “against talc” was pure nonsense!!). Many cowardly companies bent to corrupt lawsuits and switched, even the purest talc baby powders to cheap cornstarch ( UGH!). Only get REAL talc products or you won’t be happy. Wish it was a bigger size but I buy two at a time. I am “worth” every penny of this quality product!!

Dies war ein Geschenk. Beschenkte fand den Duft angenehm dezent. Das Öffnen der Dose war nicht so schwer wie in vorherigen Rezensionen beschrieben. Sehr ergiebiges Produkt. Beschenkte würde das Produkt wieder bestellen.

Todo muy bien. Llegó a tiempo. Envoltura y contenido completo y en orden. Solo me hubiera gustado que el perfume sea más penetrante o con más aroma. Por lo demás, muy bien.

Das Puder ist nicht günstig aber es duftet sehr gut und wenn man die Verpackung vorsichtig öffnet, funktioniert es auch wie vorgesehen. Die Lieferung war schnell. Ein schönes Geschenk übrigens auch für eine gute Freundin.:-)
