Family favorite! High-Quality Matcha with Smooth, Clean Flavor
I absolutely love the quality of this matcha. The color is vibrant and fresh, and the texture is very fine, which makes it easy to whisk into a smooth, creamy consistency without clumping. The flavor is clean, slightly sweet, and not overly bitter — exactly what I look for in a ceremonial grade matcha. It works beautifully on its own as traditional matcha, but also holds up well in lattes. You can really taste the quality of the leaves. Definitely a staple in my kitchen and one I would repurchase.

Teahouse Edition is delicious!
So I’ve been very big into making my matchas at home and I’ve tried many different matchas, especially ones I can find locally. The Jade Leaf brand seems to be the only one in the stores near me. But they only have the matcha latte (which I would not recommend) and the culinary grade which is pretty good! But I wanted to branch out and try something a little different and I did research and decided to go with the tea house edition! I thought the culinary grade was so yummy and green, especially compared to the other ones I’ve tried but when I got the teahouse edition, I will never go back to the culinary grade! Don’t get me wrong it was very yummy and nice that I could just run to the store and get more but since trying a better quality matcha, I can’t bring myself to go back! I definitely think if you haven’t tried any amazing matcha powders, the culinary grade really isn’t bad! But I wouldn’t recommend if you’ve tried bright green yummy tasting matchas! I still had a pack of the culinary grade which is pictured, I never realized how dark it was until I purchased the teahouse edition! I really did think it was pretty green but I think that explains how crappy the matchas I’ve tried used to be! I’m sure there’s better matchas out there but out of all the ones I’ve tried, the teahouse edition is by far the best one and I will continue to get it for as long as I can! (The one in the tin is the teahouse and the one in the packet is the culinary grade)

4 Years and 12 Bags Later: Why I Still Choose This Over "Luxury" Brands
I have been purchasing this specific Jade Leaf Matcha for over 4 years now, and I just opened my 12th bag. When you’ve used a product this consistently, you really get to know its quality, and this matcha has remained remarkably consistent. Quality & Color: Despite being "Organic" (which sometimes leads to a duller color in other brands), this powder is a vibrant, electric green. It’s a very fine grind; I still recommend using a sifter to avoid clumps, but it whisks into a beautiful froth with very little effort. Flavor Profile: It hits that perfect "Ceremonial" balance—it’s smooth and creamy with a distinct umami note and almost zero bitterness. I typically drink it as a traditional tea (just water), but it’s rich enough to hold its own in an oat milk latte without getting lost. Why I Keep Coming Back: I’ve tried the $40+ "luxury" tins, and honestly, the jump in quality doesn't justify the price for daily use. Jade Leaf gives me that high-end teahouse experience at a price point that makes sense for a morning ritual. Pros: Consistency: 12 bags in, and I've never had a "bad batch." Energy: Clean focus without the coffee jitters. Packaging: The resealable bag actually works and keeps the light out (though I still store mine in the fridge). Cons: If you are a complete beginner, you'll definitely want a bamboo whisk or electric frother; you can't just stir this with a spoon and expect it to dissolve perfectly. Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a "daily driver" matcha that actually tastes like premium ceremonial grade, look no further.

I honestly don't know, but I like it
I had to give this product 4 stars because I was frankly impressed with the quality. Problem is, I'm a terrible person to be calling myself an expert, despite the fact I've been drinking matcha daily for years now. Probably because I blend it with milk and honey or maple syrup before dumping boiling water into the mix. I like it sweet and foamy, and I couldn't care less how anyone else thinks it needs to be done. I drink it because I need a stimulant with high levels of theanine. Matcha is so good I can drink it any time of day without feeling like it's ruining my life the way coffee does. I have a genetic issue that makes caffeine really difficult to use, and other problems that make stimulants necessary for me to function at a neurotypical level. When I got this product it looked very good to me, a darker green with some luminescence, better than the last package I ordered from another company, which just looked pale and dead. There was some effort in the packaging, although these tins are not airtight, not even water tight, but the matcha comes sealed in a bag inside the tin, and I'm using this up before it gets old. So I'm doing the hard work by describing my experience, but honestly I don't like the flavor of most herbs and don't care to get that up close and personal with the flavor. I do worry about radiation and I might download a radiation sensing app for my phone (yes there is such a thing, the hardware is built in already if you have a camera). Japan is covered with radiation thanks to you know what, so better to do my own analysis than trust a lab. But otherwise, this looks to me like a good quality product and I will probably order it again, until I don't. It's a little pricey, but I've seen a lot worse, and there's enough love going into marketing that I'm convinced they aren't sweeping it up off of a floor or street somewhere. I'll let you know if I change my mind.

Great taste, didn't clump
I've tried several types of similarly priced matcha with disappointing results. I was so happy when my first use of this one produced a smooth, clump-free, bright green product with an even, high foam (hand stirred with a whisk). The taste was clear and bright, but without grassy notes. If I was recommending a product for someone who was skeptical of matcha it would be this one.

Jade Leaf high grade ceremonial tea sourced from organic Japanese family farm
I purchased both the Jade Leaf and Kenko Matcha Green Tea Powder. Both are ceremonial grade Matcha about as pure as you can get. Both are sourced from small family farms in Japan and are tested repeatedly for radiation. Jade Leaf is slightly less expensive at $23.95 for 30G. Kenko is slightly more expensive at $27.99 for 30G. Kenko has a slightly sweeter flavor and the tea powder is a brighter green. Jade Leaf is not as sweet and a tad darker in color. I like them both equally and alternate between teas. I have become an avid Matcha tea drinker after being a long term espresso coffee drinker. The clean refreshing “buzz” keeps me alert for hours without the jitters. Also L-Theanine an amino acid found primarily in teas promotes relaxation, reduces stress, while at the same time boosts concentration and alertness. I can code for hours on this tea. Traditional ceremonial teas are packed in light tin containers that seal air tight. Keep them in the refrigerator to keep it fresh and cold. Jade Leaf arrived with a sealed bag of powder tea inside the tin. You simply cut the bag open then pour tea inside the tin. I think they took extra precaution for freshness by double packing. Kenko arrived with the tea loose inside the tin. It was not double packed. It didn’t affect the taste or freshness at all. Jade Leaf sent me follow up emails asking if everything arrived ok and if I was enjoying the tea. They also sent me coupons for future purchases. Nice touch. I like it when suppliers take the time to do this. Kenko sent me an email asking if all was good but they did not offer any future purchase coupons. All in all I like them both. If I had to buy just one next time I might go with Kenko because I prefer the slightly sweeter taste. I would recommend buying both as I did and do your own taste test comparison. These are two very good Matcha teas on the market and I wouldn’t bother with any other brands. Both of these teas are created in the highest strictest manner with emphasis on quality and taste. They also buy from small family farms which I like. I was not paid for this endorsement nor did I receive any incentives from suppliers for writing this review.

Very light matcha, not very umami
Not a very strong umami flavor, it's very, very light flavor. Might be okay for a beginner but the matcha flavor does not come through.

Pricey for this quality
Pricey even if the quality is just okish and not over the top, it has a vibrant color, but still with a bitter taste towards the end, so luckily there are other options of better quality available for a much better price, which are sourced directly from Japan. But I guess we’re just adding to the 460 billion GDP of Seattle based businesses with our purchase. If with some extensive research on the entire supply chain, it would turn out that the story is actually true and that they support farmers directly, who have handpicked the leafs themselves rather than maximizing the distributors business profits, so true fair trade, then I would probably go for this product just because of the story rather than going with a mass product, but I feel so fooled through the marketing of these beautiful pictures of Japanese farmers and demand that they actually interview them on YouTube, while packaging it with this Jade brand. And, it’s not even kept in ceramic or glass so the price isn’t justified at all.

Smooth taste and vibrant colour
This ceremonial grade matcha has a smooth taste and a vibrant green colour which shows its quality. It mixes well and has a clean flavour without being overly bitter. The texture is fine and easy to whisk and it works well for both traditional matcha and lattes. I have used it regularly and it fits easily into a daily routine. Overall, a high quality matcha that delivers great taste and consistency. I would recommend it if you want a smooth and reliable ceremonial grade option.
