Dr.meter Pinless Moisture Meters, Damp Meter for Walls with Backlit LCD Screen Non-Destructive Damp Meter 4 Mode for Wallboard, Wood, Masonry and Gypsum Boards

I bought this as I suspected a patch of dampness in the front porch and was attracted by its combination of use on softwood, hardwood, plasterboard and masonry. Once I installed the two included AAA batteries, removed the adhesive screen protector and switched on I found ease of use straightforward. It can be used in both a Scanning mode, whereby the rear of the meter is placed flat on a surface, or in Prod mode with the two metal probes exposed by flipping over a cover on the top and piercing the material you wish to measure. Bear in mind that the probes have to be pushed into the material so they will leave a couple of pinprick holes. Accuracy in Prod mode is plus or minus 2% while in Scanning mode (which measures to a depth of 20mm) is plus or minus 4%. An audible alarm sounds when Scanning reads >17% moisture in wood and 70% in masonry; and Prod reads >17%. I particularly like the Hold function, a button on the front which when pressed locks the reading for viewing and proved helpful when using in an enclosed space. A light, solid meter made in China that comes with a carry case that attaches to a waist belt. It’s backlit display is easy to read. Several YouTube videos of its use are available and it seems to feature in several Top 5 or Top 10 moisture meters. For the price I’ve found it to be good value.

Really useful piece of kit which with all the pressures to burn "the correct logs" is a must have item.

I bought this to check on damp levels in our caravan. It is easy to use, especially in the non-destructive mode without the pins making holes, but is not as accurate as those used for professional caravan servicing - but it is a tiny fraction of the cost and doesn;t need calibrating every day. Respose is very quickand the comparitive results are in line with the professional survey a couple of weeks earlier. Also used on some wood - just for fun and with the prods in use on timber it does look to be quite accurate. The pins are VERY sharp and the little plastic tip covers are easy to lose, but with a tilting cover, they're not completely necessary. For the price, it is a reasonable product

Love this moisture tester, it’s really good to see if my wood is ok to burn. Works well, was great value and small with a carry case. It seems to be pretty accurate too.

Suite à des traces d'humidité dans un mur de garage dont l'origine n'est pas localisable directement, je cherchais un petit appareil facile d'usage, et je l'ai trouvé ! Un bouton on/off pour l'allumer, ensuite il suffit de "planter" légèrement les 2 pointes dans le plafonnage (1 mm suffit) et l'écran LCD indique directement le taux d'humidité relevé. Un second bouton permet de conserver en mémoire la valeur mesurée, ce qui est très pratique pour les endroits peu accessibles et donc pas visibles directement (derrière un meuble par exemple). Petit objection, il mesure le taux d'humidité entre 0 et 40 % max, mais c'est amplement suffisant pour se rendre compte de l'état d'imprégnation du mur. En piquant ici et là dans le mur, j'ai pu mieux cibler le problème et l'étendue des dégâts. Bref, simple à utiliser et précis. que demander de plus ? Il est fourni dans une petite pochette de protection en tissu et 2 pointes de rechange (à visser à la place des anciennes) mais je ne suis pas sûr que je devrai les utiliser un jour. On verra à l'usage, mais pour ce prix, que demander de plus. Une batterie (cube 9V standard type 6LR61) est également fournie avec.
