Product description Oasis ~ Heathen Chemistry desertcart.com At their career zenith, Oasis were lauded as the best band in the world. They were actually never the greatest rock & roll band at any time, but for a few years they were the biggest. While they offered the '90s two of its most defining albums, and a resurgence of '60s-influenced Manchester rock, Oasis tumbled off the top of the mountain in the last half of the decade. Heathen Chemistry is their first step back up the ascent, albeit a small step. The album opens with "The Hindu Times," which will certainly be listed among Oasis's best anthems, and it closes with "Better Man," a distorted-guitar-driven thrill that revs up to 60 mph in second gear. But between the strongest songs on the disc, Noel "Walrus" and Liam "Eggman" Gallagher exploit the Beatles references almost to the breaking point. It's no secret that the Gallaghers worship the Beatles (who doesn't?), but here they've gone beyond obvious influences and stepped right into infringement territory. On "Born on a Different Cloud," Noel's guitar weeps a little too gently, and Liam's signature rasp now sounds like a deliberate imitation of Lennon with a cold. Further, Liam shares the mic with Noel, who sings lead on several tracks, the best being "Force of Nature." Unlike on Beatles albums, however, the switch back and forth is jarring (Liam might be the biggest troublemaker, but he is also the better singer). Nonetheless, if a band is going to unapologetically rip off what was unquestionably the best band in the world, no one does it better than Oasis. --Beth Massa Review: OASIS KEEPS ON KEEPIN' ON WITH HEATHEN CHEMISTRY!!!.... - My personal Oasis list: "Morning Glory"; "Definitely, Maybe" & "HEATHEN CHEMISTRY"! Oasis could have taken the easy path, churning out more "Morning Glory"'s & "Definitely, Maybe"'s with some chord changes & different lyrics. But, these guys're too talented & creative for that. And, it continues to show & shine in HEATHEN CHEMISTRY! Oasis has proven that they are exceptional...what stops a lot of great bands is they become too closely identified with one particular decade's style of music - not Oasis; they sound like they could have come from just about any decade (except, possibly, the 80's). They've done this, because their work has evolved, while they've remained true to their souls, which has also enabled them to maintain their original fan base, while adding new fans with each new CD/album. (Check out "Dig Out Your Soul" which continues this journey, prior to Noel's departure). More bandmembers do more songwriting, I believe, beginning with "HEATHEN CHEMISTRY", and do quite excellent at it. Liam proves he can write more than ballads (Little James, Songbird) with "Better Man"...a rocker! Gem (Archer) hidden "gem"...fantastic rocker "Hung In A Bad Place" It's the bollocks!! Manchester to English dictionary = it rocks!!!!!!! Never a big ballad fan myself, Liam changed that, especially on "Stop Crying Your Heart Out". If there's such a thing as a "power" ballad, this is it. His voice undergoes such a dramatic transformation on ballads, becoming so pure & clear (not adjectives normally associated with Liam Gallagher!), they're achingly beautiful. Definitely noteworthy: on HEATHEN CHEMISTRY, Johnny Marr (formerly of The Smiths and Electronic) guests on guitar, slide guitar & backup vocals. Intrigued, I did research on him & he's another great talent. Ended up purchasing Johnny Marr & The Healers "Boomslang" (haven't rated it yet) but it's great! Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son) is on drums. Zak did drums for Oasis on "Definitely, FOREVER", Live At Glastonbury in '04. Even though Noel quit in '09, Oasis fans; don't despair. Both brothers formed their own projects. Liam has all the Oasis bandmembers on Beady Eye. Please see my review of "Different Gear, Still Speeding". (All rock fans, check these bands out, too: Jet, Black Box Revelation & The Hives.) Meantime, we're awaiting the release of Beady Eye's sophmore CD this year, 2013 & maybe we will be fortunate enough for an Oasis 20 year reunion in 2014 (still can't beat the brothers when they harmonize)! If you haven't already done so, get ahold of "HEATHEN CHEMISTRY" - you won't regret it! Nice one! Review: Muy buen disco!!

Flawless
I recently purchased the vinyl version of this, which also came with the digital download, and I have listened to it continuously since then. There is not a weak track on this, and most are superlative. Hindu Times is a fantastic opener, but it just gets better. Stop Crying Your Heart Out is a beautifully poignant song. Top notch. Little by Little is its equal. She is love reminds me of The Beatles "I Will," it its tone and sentiment. That is the highest praise I can give a song. This may sound sacrilegious, but I do feel that this album is the equal of What's The Story Morning Glory.

It’s great!
I received my vinyl a day early which was great! It’s great quality but the description does say 33 rpm and I did have to switch my record player to 45 rpm for it to play normally which isn’t a problem but I wasn’t aware of this otherwise amazing product!

Hardest oasis album to find
I’m 30, this album was my early childhood next to morning glory.

Solid album, totally underrated.
I know this album got poor reviews, but I love it. It may not have as many epic tunes as Oasis' first two albums, but it's great nonetheless. I don't know of any other 2-chord song that sounds as beautiful as Songbird. I've been an Oasis fan for several years now, and for me this album isn't "mediocre" and doesn't get old. Great tunes.

I already own the CD version of this album which I purchased away back on it's original release in 2002 and was their 5th studio album. I received a promotion voucher from Amazon for £5 off so I decided to go for this 180g Vinyl version which comes with a digital download card. In my opinion's this was one of Oasis's better albums maybe because it was the last time drummer Alan White would feature subsequently leaving in 2004 . Liam's and Noel's vocals just blow me away on this record. I'm just a few Vinyl albums away from the full set.
