Bold Smooth Great Color
I'm thoroughly impressed with the Monteverde Capless Gel Ballpoint Refill for Parker Ballpoint Pens in Fine Point. It writes incredibly smoothly and effortlessly, feeling like a high-quality rollerball. What's remarkable is how quickly the ink dries, even with the bold and rich lines it produces. The blue-black ink is deeply saturated, creating a unique and distinctive shade. One thing to consider is that, as another customer pointed out, the 'fine' line width is sommewhat broader than typical fine refills, much closer to a 1.0mm gel pen. Nonetheless, it's an excellent choice for those who appreciate smooth writing and a distinctive ink color.

I'm hooked - These are my go-to refills
For a while, I've been obsessed with Parker Jotters and Parker Classics. I use them 99% of the time, I carry a few with me, and I give them as gifts. I don't like regular ballpoint ink refills, though. Enter the Monteverde Capless Gel Refills. I've bought so many of them. Black, Blue, Blue/Black, Green, and Red. I've even bought 50 refills at a time, both in black and blue/black. They work very well. I've never had a problem with leaking, so either I'm very lucky or these refills are good quality. (It's the second reason - these refills are good quality.) They write beautifully and dry quickly. I've bought so many of them, because I like to give a couple to others when I give them a pen. Every time someone's tried their new pen or used one of my pens, they are surprised and pleased with how smooth and well these refills write. The refills also last a decent amount of time. I use a blue/black for my journaling, and (a very rough estimate) I've gotten maybe 80 pages (40 pages front and back) of writing in an 8" x 5" journal out of one refill. The Blue/Black color is my favorite, because it looks navy. I love it. I've tried other versions of Monteverde blue/black ink, including in fountain pen cartridges and the smooth ballpoint refills, and that ink doesn't look nearly as nice as the blue/black you get in these refills. Those others look like a washed-out black, but the blue/black in these refills has a great, dark blue color. The green ink has a slight blue tinge to it, making it a bit more teal than it is a true green. I prefer it, though, to some other greens that have too much yellow in them. The red ink is a bright red, and slightly translucent. It's not deep and rich, so when I write with it on ruled paper, I can faintly see the lines through the ink. It'd be a great red ink for teachers to use when correcting homework assignments. The blue ink is a nice, true blue. A lot of other blue inks in other refills I've tried look purple compared to this blue. I hope I can soon buy 50 Blue refills on sale, because these are the blue refills I want to keep using. The black ink is exactly what you'd want in black ink - black. I prefer to write with something else, but that's about color, not about the quality of the ink. I haven't tried many other capless gel refills, so I can't say that these are the best, but what I know is that these are very satisfying. There might be better refills out there, but I enjoy these so much, I don't know why I'd spend my money on others. The Monteverde Capless Gel Refills are great.

Probably the best alternative in Parker refills
Parker pen users know that good quality refills are hard to find. These gel refills from Monteverde are pretty good (if not up to the standards of gel refills for other pens.) The feel on paper is pretty good; fairly smooth compared to other gel pens, though not the very best. There is a little bit of skipping on some papers, which is one of the downsides to gel pens, but the performance is MUCH better than Parker's gel refills (which skip horribly on almost everything.) There are two things keeping them from a 5-star review. First, they're not very fine; in fact, comparing them directly to another brand of fine point refills, it's hard to tell any real difference. I'd call them a solid medium width. Second is Monteverde's inability to make a really dark blue-black ink. These are lighter than expected; the color is nice, just not what is normally labeled blue-black. They're good refills, they just didn't align with the expectations generated by Monteverde's specifications.

Exactly fit replacement, gel ink, a fine point and smooth writing
Exactly what I needed and wanted. This fit my Molskine click rollerball pen (original, not the plus version) perfectly and converted it to a gel ink pen. It writes very smooth, the gel ink dries fast. I'm a lefty so that is important to me. If I write and immediately wipe there is some smearing but I expect that. I didn't notice any ink smear under normal writing, but I haven't used it much yet. I just got it. It didn't turn my hand black and that's a great thing. The original spring fit exactly and there's no binding when clicking. The tip does not extend too far or not far enough. It's just right. I have no idea how long it will last or stand up to temp and humidity. The only difference I have noted is the original had an all plastic body and this one is metal and noticably heavier but it's a pen cartridge and not a brick LOL! The original plastic one had leaked on me from the heat. I'm hoping this metal one has a more reliable seal and will not leak. It gets hot here. My pen does not feel off or unbalanced. It writes well and I'm a bit fan of the fine point.

Good!
I did not think I would like these refills, but to my surprise they are very nice. Smooth writing. Glad I got them.

Satisfying gel alternative to dry ballpoint refills
Despite loathing dry-running, skippy ballpoint pens, I recently picked up a Rotring 600 ballpoint on the strength of the body construction and aesthetics. So I ordered this refill as a possible non-oil based alternative to the stock ballpoint cartridges, and it surpassed my expectations. The MV gel refill writes smooth and wet without requiring much pressure. It feels like a nice rollerball. The ink dries quickly, even on Tomoe River paper, which surprised me given how “juicy” a line it puts down. The blue-black color is quite distinctive and saturated—a deep navy with a touch of turquoise. My one complaint and reservation about recommending these is that the “fine” line width they put down is considerably broader than their own “fine” size ballpoint refills and more like a 1.0mm “bold” size gel pen. So if 1mm is too thick for you, get the xf needle tip size of this refill instead.
