Review: Great! - My son loves it. Review: An improved Grade 3 syllabus - The previous Grade 2 and 3 Rock School acoustic guitar syllabuses attracted quite a bit of criticism concerning uneven difficulty of the pieces and pieces too advanced for the grade. I'm pleased to say that the pieces here are of much more consistent difficulty, and probably on the whole a little easier than some of the previous Grade 3 pieces (and even Grade 2). The syllabus is in the same format with six songs, all of which are different from the previous Grade 3. These are; Take on the world - You me at six The man who sold the world - David Bowie Weather with you - Crowded House High Horse - Kacey Musgraves Landslide - Dixie Chicks Wild Wood - Paul Weller The last two are written as duets with an assessed and a non-assessed part. Wild Wood did appear in the previous Grade 2 syllabus, but the arrangement here is slightly different. All should be manageable. All the songs involve rhythmic strumming and short solo sections. All songs can be picked, although sections of Take on the World suggest playing fingerstyle, and involving muted chords with some slides - nothing too difficult, but the Kacey Musgraves has some palm-muted sections and rapid bar chord changes (Bm, F#m and F#) which will require some work. An improvement and some fun playing.
