Blue Buffalo Basics Turkey Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, 11 lb

This food immediately stopped the vomiting of my four cats, ages ranging 7-10 years old. That alone makes Blue Buffalo worth the price, but there's other benefits too. They been eating Blue Buffalo for two months now. They're so much more active, like they're five years younger! Even when they're not playing, they're so much more alert than they used to be. Their muscle tone is better and their poops are less smelly. They seem to like the taste; the first time I put it in their bowls they dug in without hesitation. They eat less of it than they did the other brand, believe it or not. I think it's because it's more satisfying to them than the other was. The smell of the food is kind of strong when I open the bag, but i just try not to stick my face too close to the bag when I'm feeding them, and it doesn't stink up the house or anything, so i can live with it. Their coats are magnificent now; shiny and sleek, silky, with much less shedding and no flaky dandruff! The bald patches on their feet are filling in nicely too. That may be a combination of finally having good quality food and a bath with Zymox Shampoo and Conditioner. I will continue to buy Blue Buffalo for my cats. I have also tried them on the duck and potato, and they'll eat it but seem much fonder of the turkey and potato.

This product is a very healthly food for my cats even tho it is a bit pricey it is a better choice

I noticed that the pictures that had been posted showing the difference between Blue Basics bought on Amazon vs. other pet stores, but thought I'd give it a chance since that review was posted more than a year ago. Left side = Petco. Right side = Amazon. Color: The biggest difference, Amazon's being a lighter brown than the food bought at Petco. Ingredients: I looked at both bags, all the same ingredients in the same order. Freshness: Petco's best by date is Oct 2020, Amazon's best by date is Aug 2021. Amazon sent a fresher bag, and could explain the color difference. Flavor: I left this one for the cats. I left 2 bowls out, one with Petco's and one with Amazon's. ALL 6 CATS went for the Amazon-bought food, after smelling and looking at both option. I think we have a winner! --- Now, the real reason I bought this food, is because one of our black cats is allergic to chicken. She used to puke almost immediately after ingesting anything with chicken in it. We've tried several brands (and not the cheap stuff). Wellness Core, Merrick's, etc. to name a few. On top of that, we had 5 other cats to please, but none liked them... Until we tried Blue Basics (Adult Turkey and Potato). All cats love it, no one gets sick, they have very healthy coats and are very happy cats. Well worth the money. (Side note: we also feed them the same brand and flavor, but the wet pate version of it first thing in the morning, as our sensitive cat's stomach is most sensitive in the morning. It's been just over a week since the switch and there has been no accidents other than the occasional furballs :) )

My indoor cats are throwing up less and they like it. I like that there are no grains and misc fillers. The price is pretty high for me since I’m on disability. All of my cats are very important to me but I can only feed it to the indoor cats😢. Before I was on fixed income I rescued 18 cats and had them spayed/neutered & vaccinated. I have 4 inside and the rest outside. I so wish I could feed it to all of them. I feel bad hving to outdoor cats the cheap stuff. It makes them throw up some bcs of all of the fillers and chicken. I know they would be healthier but I cannot afford it.

I saw another customer stated how the cat food smelled like potatoes. They are not wrong! Upon opening the bag, I thought I was opening a bag of potato chips instead! The cats like it and I had been feeding them blue buffalo before but I have one cat that is having skin problems and belly problems so I figured I’d try this. However, The fact that the bag has such a strong smell of potatoes makes me wonder just how much turkey is actually in this and is it more potatoes than turkey? Because cats need meat protein not loaded with carbs! I am perplexed. I may try another food.

I was only able to feed my American Shorthair Hydrolyzed protein cat food by prescription and I wanted to see if she'd tolerate this food as an alternative after a few years of the same old same old food. I was terrified and only gave her a few kibble here and there and watched her stool and for vomiting...nothing. I increased the food consumption because my poor cat is food motivated and ONLY able to eat the same thing for years hoping she'd tolerate this AND SHE DID! This food replaced a very expensive meat free food she'd been eating for years successfully! She was so happy every meal time to be eating this/something different and I'm so glad I gave it a try. It's such a joy to be giving my ASH real meat food again considering Hydrolyzed protein cat foods are soy based and most soy is GMO. :-(

My cats love this dry food and it has good ingredients.

My cat did not like this food. I believe it was because of the small size of the pieces. She doesn't eat crumbs of her treats this size either.
