Should i get this or the high grade version?

I loved this model. It is complex and has all the stickers to go with it. It was worth every penny! I would like to do some of the better grades however the RG kits are awesome!

if i want to order for my older brother, do i need to buy tools or smth else also?

You do not have to purchase anything. However, my son did order a tool kit for about $10.00 and he said it was the best money he spent. It makes handling the small parts easier....

How much of this detail is molded into the plastic, and how much is sticker-based? For example, the shoulders, front skirting, and the shins.

Every detail is molded onto the frame, the stickers are only the decoration decals with model numbers, badges and insigniasthe RG aver the most detailed models, trust me you won’t be disappointed, I own 10 different ones.

are the hands articulated

It comes with several sets of hands, one pair is articulated. The articulated hands are the three finger/trigger finger split that was common in older master grades. Just be careful! These are much more fragile.
