Just buying it, I love it.
So like some other people mentioned already its not perfect. But I think whatever negatives there are definitely out weigh the positives. So with that being said I will tell you how it is after 3 months of using it. I have a wife and a 18 year old son who also use the front door. I installed the door and had no issues with installation. I read about the bolts being too tight, so I checked the lock manually to verify its smooth as I went along, no issues. Once installation done I downloaded the app and started programming all of us into the app. I'm the tech guy in the house so I'm the administrator user. Adding everyone in is easy. I got a bit confused when you add a user email for the app. It should send an email to that user for the app. It didn't for some reason. No biggie, when my wife and son downloaded the app just make sure they sign up using the email address you have listed for them. They can use the app to unlock the door through Bluetooth but I'm the only user to unlock with wifi and program other users. That works for us. So I hooked up the bridge last which is why I think the email for my users didn't send. I probably should've hooked up the bridge first then program my users. Oh well it worked out in the long run. I did have some trouble hooking up to wifi but again I'm the techy guy so I figured it out. Must have 2.4 ghz wifi. Not sure if you can get your deadbolt changed to match your current house locks, I didn't try because I didn't buy this to use the key. We bought it for the ease of access it will give us. So as the keys they gave us work we never use them, its awesome. I like the fact that when we're not home I can check the log to see if my son is home or if he came home. It logs who came in if they use pin code or finger print. If you use key or unlock from the inside then it logs it as manual. No way to tell who it is. That's expected. Great feature. You can easily set up a temporary user with pin code to use at specific time or times. How many times they get to use that pin. I like it for my parents. I send them a code and they can walk right in. Now it doesn't know if the door is open or closed but my son left the house and didn't make sure the door was all the way closed. It notified me saying the lock is jammed. So with the door not closed all the way it was hitting the frame. I don't have my log notifying me with anything but it did notify for this which was good. So now I have lock the door when he leaves. To manually lock the door when you leave just press the big button on the bottom as you leave. This ensures him that the door is closed. Overall I think this is a great product and would recommend it to anyone. Very happy with this purchase. It takes time to set everything up but in the end it worked out great for my family. Oh I didn't hook it up to my Alexa. That was my choice, so I can't comment on that. I do have it hooked to wifi which I can control from anywhere. That was my preference I guess. Stop debating, just get it.

Four Ways to Unlock With NO Monthly Fees?! Now THIS is the Smart Lock You've Been Looking For!
Let's keep this really simple - just get this lock. Why you ask? Fine, fine, I guess I should explain the *why* behind getting this lock. But be warned, this is a long review... Truly, the U-Bolt Pro is everything a lock should be - literally. By biggest gripe with smart locks is that they usually have two features - some sort of key manual access and then some sort of technology. Maybe it's a key unlock and a smart phone app, or maybe it's a key unlock and a number pad, or maybe it's a key unlock and a finger print reader. But this lock, my friends, has *all* those things. First off, in case anyone has not said this, you CAN get this lock rekeyed to match your existing set of keys. I love, love, love this - now I do not have to be stuck with some new random key for the deadbolt in addition to my current house key. The strange thing is, while the manufactures site states that this uses a Schlage style barrel, it actually uses a Kwikset key? Odd right? The locksmith I had rekey the barrels (which yes, you can remove from the lock and can take to your local lock smith!) was baffled as well. Personally this was not an issue for me (more of a great surprise actually) as I already had Kwikset keys on my house, but if you were expecting Schlage then you'd be disappointed as the barrel does not work with them. I assume one could buy a Schlege barrel and place it in the lock... however my locksmith warned against this as the tail is quite long on the included barrel and he did not believe there were any Schlege style barrels with such a long tail. So your mileage may vary - but TL;DR, this lock can be rekeyed to Kwikset keys! But back to what I was saying - I cannot, I repeat cannot, understate how important the all-the-above options to unlock the deadbolt was to me. You have SO many choices to unlock the door - and yes at first that might sound silly - but trust me, it's great. Especially for people like my parents who do not want to use a smart phone app. Let me give you a general run down of how all these features have made my life simpler. When I pull into my neighborhood, the app alerts me that the locks are ready to unlock when I approach my house. And when I pull into my driveway, the locks instantly unlock so I do not even have to take the keys out of my pocket to get inside. And when I finally step into the house, the locks (after a set amount of time I preconfigured) will auto lock behind me. Just like that, with my hands full of groceries, I did not even have to pull the keys or my phone out of my pocket. Wow. And this becomes exponentially better when it's raining and I am not fumbling for my keys to unlock the door! I can just run inside barely getting soaked! Now it's not always perfect, maybe once or twice a month I have a Bluetooth issue where the lock does not detect I'm there but hey, I can stomach that inconvenience - especially when you have other options to unlock the door. Leading to my next comment - the fingerprint and pin pad unlocking. Maybe I left my phone at home or perhaps the lock did not detect me at the door. No problem, finger print scanner to the rescue. Just one two second hold with my finger and the door unlocks without a hitch! And when I've had gloves on and that's not an option, I can unlock the door with the number pad. Also FYI, these are the two methods my parents prefer the most - they don't want to have the app on their phones, but they also would like for a way to unlock the door without having to fumble with a key. A fingerprint or a number code stored locally on the device (that can work even without Wifi!) is excellent for them. Now if you want to unlock the device from the app when say you're at at work for example and no where near your house, you will need the bridge - but otherwise the device functions entirely on Bluetooth locally. If all else fails - my phone did not connect, the finger print reader was not reading my thumb for some reason, or perhaps the lock is dead and the number pad cannot function - I can just flip down the lid and insert my traditional house key. Did you count that? There are FOUR different ways to unlock this deadbolt! And did I mention there are NO MONTHLY FEES fees for this?! Okay okay look I concede, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. There's one eency weency issue: Alexa and this lock hate each other. Perhaps this can be fixed with a software update... but the issue still persists to this day for me. Now the lock will pair fine with Alexa, and I can even ask Alexa to unlock the device or lock the device with my voice. But, that's where the problem begins. First you have to tell Alexa a pin to unlock the deadbolt... which seems crazy to me. Yes I know, the whole point is so that no one can just shout "Alexa, unlock the front door!" from outside your house and the Alexa device inside hears the command and unlocks... but also, I really would prefer not to have to tell Alexa a pin every single time, especially when other people around me outside could hear such a pin. However honestly it wouldn't matter if they did hear my pin as, surprise, Alexa cannot unlock this lock! She will lie to you and say she has but oh no, do not believe her beautiful voice - she is a liar! The Alexa app will say the door is unlocked too, but that is also false. It simply just does not work with Alexa - and if that is something incredibly important to you then this may not be the lock for you. With that said, I really don't believe it should be, though; I never once felt the need to unlock the deadbolt with Alexa nor ever found the idea more convenient than using the location proximity/the app, my fingerprint, the number pad, or the key itself. Maybe it would have been nice when I'm already inside to make sure the door is locked, but isn't that what the auto lock feature or the app is for already? And I guess this issue could be solved down the line with an update too, so maybe by the time you are reading this the whole paragraph is a nonissue! Wow, I typed a lot here - though when you're spending almost $200 on a lock, you want to make sure that your money is going towards a good investment. I can confidently say that yes, it absolutely is - heck, I bought three of them, dropping more than half a grand... and without a doubt, it's been 100% worth it. If you want a lock with multiple smart unlocking options, a physical key option, and no monthly subscription, you found it. Installation was simple too! I just really, really, really like this lock if you can't tell by now - and I hope you will too.

Absolutely awesome!
UPDATE #2: I continue to be simply blown away by the Customer Service of this company. After a recent update, our lock has started to misbehave a little bit. It started locking and unlocking itself, until I would remove the batteries and reinstall. After the second time it did this, I reached out to the company and they have been incredibly responsive! I can honestly say that I have never had such good customer service from any company I’ve ever bought anything from. Seriously!! Our lock is a couple of years old so I do wonder if it’s time to replace it but the company is doing troubleshooting with me to see if we can resolve it without going that route. If I do decide to go ahead and replace the lock, I will absolutely buy another one of these locks from this company. The Customer Service alone is worth the price of admission. I’ve recommended this lock to everybody that I know because of its sturdiness, the aesthetics and ease of use. You will not be disappointed if you buy this lock! UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: wow…just wow….the customer service for this company is outstanding. After posting my review, they reached out to me to try to help resolve the issues I was having. After a couple of troubleshooting exercises, they ended up sending me a replacement part and that seems to have done the trick. It’s awesome to walk up to the door & have it automatically unlock. And the issues we were having with the fingerprint reader are now no longer an issue. What do I love about this lock? The automatic lock feature. I no longer have to worry that the lock is unlocked when I leave or go to bed. I love that the app provides a log of comings & goings, the fingerprint reader is so convenient & I love that it can be set to unlock upon approach. This lock is awesome! wish all companies had the attentive customer service U-TEC does. I highly recommend this lock now! ——————— My original review: Do we’ve been using this lock for about 6 weeks now and there are things we love and things we don’t. When the lock arrived, I installed it & set it up before my hubby got home. It wasn’t difficult to do or to pair up with the ‘bridge’ that allows it to connect to WiFi. Make sure you have a solid WiFi connection if you buy this lock. The lock feels very sturdy, is made of metal & looks really nice. Pro’s: we love the app that can be used to control the lock, the auto lock / Unlock feature and the log to see who has come & gone. So often my kids forget to lock the door behind them so the auto lock is wonderful. Cons: the fingerprint reader is less than reliable & only works part of the time. More often than not we end up entering the door code to unlock the door. A feature of the lock & the app is that when you enter the ‘boundaries’ set by the system, the door is supposed to automatically unlock as you approach the door. That feature is about as reliable as the fingerprint feature. We will keep the lock? Yes because I’m too lazy to research & try something else. lol. This lock is ‘fine.’ I’d love to say it’s fantastic but I’d be lying. It’s fine. I don’t dislike it enough to go through the hassle of changing it. Living in the humid south, I know I’ll be replacing it in the next couple of years anyway. Would I recommend it? I guess so. Maybe our experiences are more ‘operator error’ so perhaps someone else won’t have our same challenges. I’d give the lock a 5 on a scale of 1-10.

Persistence paid off
WiFi connection won't connect. This is actually my second ultraloq, and the first one has worked great for years, very happy. The major difference is that the first came with a wifi bridge that works fantastic. I run home assistant so I though it would be great to add in automation via the matter bridge each night to ensure that things get locked up automatically. Unfortunately the onboard Wi-Fi is a huge step backwards. It will not connect. Period. Thankfully I can still put pin codes and finger prints on and that works fine. There are warnings and how to about only using 2.4ghz wifi, sure no problem, still doesn't work. I have mesh and one of the nodes is 5 feet from the lock, full signal on me phone, doesn't matter. Edit: Ok, developments. I will first start out by saying that Xthings/uBolt reached out quickly due to my disappointment, and offered a refund. I'm thankful the company is actively monitoring the publics viewpoints on their products. That's fantastic. Second and most importantly, I like the lock and it's functions, I just wanted it to work via matter/thread with the rest of my home. I came back to the lock and tried it again and it connected to wifi! Now I could at least update the firmware, which made me a lot more optimistic. Once that was done, the instructions on the inside of the battery plate worked perfectly, I'm connected via matter in Google Home! I know you shouldn't have to stick it out with a product, but in my case, it worked out. Thanks to Xthings for working to keep the customer happy. Stars bumped from 2 to 4.

Works well. Very convenient. Great customer service. Recommend
I waited some time to write this review so I could give it time after installing and using. I installed this about 6 months ago now. My experience at this time is very positive and I would recommend. **Initial install** Installing was very straight forward; more or less your standard steps installing any door knob/lock with some subtle differences due to the wire. The directions were easy to follow. However I did note that the lock seemed tight to turn from the inside. I loosened the backplate and it got easier but it seemed like this wasn't right. *More on this later (see: "customer service" section in my review below) **Configuration/Setup** Setup was not very difficult (although I work in tech so maybe that adds some bias). Downloaded app from Android Play store (Google Pixel 2 XL). Connected the Bluetooth and managed to get the master account with initial fingerprints added for myself and my wife rather quickly. Next I added the "wifi bridge adapter". This is the optional add-on component I got which plugs into a nearby outlet to the lock and bridges the lock to your WiFi network so you can control the device remotely. Initially this worked fine, however ... **Issues/Customer Service** After about one month I noted there was a firmware update which I activated. Within a few days I noticed the batteries were dead. This is where it was very important to have kept a physical key provided with the device available outside the house, in your car, etc. I changed the batteries (4 AA, high quality Energizer). About 3 days later they were dead again. Rinse and repeat. After about 3 weeks and 4 sets of batteries this was becoming expensive. I contacted technical support, explained the issue and they were very responsive. They sent me a new backplate device (the core section of the lock with the batteries and embedded controller), and they followed up. EXCELLENT JOB. I swapped the backplate and noted this one fit snuggly and didn't cause the lock to be too tight which the initial one had. I reconfigured and set everything up. Worked great. Added the bridge again, then performed the firmware update. Immediately the lock seemed dead (as if batteries were dead). I performed a master reset (using paperclip to hard reset the device physically and also removed the app from my phone and reinstalled, while the bridge Device was unplugged). I redid the entire setup again. **IMPORTANT NOTE** - it seemed that the possible key here was to configure the lock, perform the firmware update BEFORE adding the wifi bridge. I waited about 3 months without the bridge connected and had no issues. I recently added back the wifi bridge and have had no issues since. My guess is the firmware upgrade had a bug while the bridge was already actively connected beforehand. **Final Impressions** The lock works great. If carrying groceries or something it's easy to just talk your finger against the fingerprint reader and open the door without fumbling for keys or putting everything down. I can remotely open the door if we are out and need someone to go let the dogs out or feed them. The auto-lock feature means there's no more worrying "did I remember to lock the door?" and there's also no worry if my wife locks the door while I'm outside doing yard work or something. I have read mixed things regarding the security auditing of the device by white-hats. Alas, my opinion there is that someone with the tools, knowledge and skillset would also need to be specifically targeting me and be physically nearby for this to be a concerning factor.

BUY ONLY IF YOU LIVE SOMEWHERE THAT'S NOT HUMID
I've had this for a few years and want soooooo badly to give this a 5 star but it falls short in one area which leads to failure in another area. I'm in Houston texas, it's humid AF. Because it's humid the fingerprint sensor goes off overnight CONSTANTLY draining the batteries. I bought this lock for the sensor. The 1st time we thought someone was trying to break in because it beeped and notified me of and "unsuccessful attempt" but when we physically checked it was just moisture. Now any moisture and it's going off and draining the batteries to the point where I'm ordering batteries in bulk. We were locked out of our house for a few hours until help arrived because the battery died before we arrived home from work. And no we don't keep nor carry the backup key because we don't carry keys, everything we own is digital or via app. (Lesson learned here) We even went to the store to purchase a charger to plug into the lock to unlock it but that didn't work. It kept saying it was unlocked but physically didn't unlock. $120 later for a locksmith. Partly our fault for not keeping a spare hidden somewhere but it is what it is. VERDICT: if you are in a dry air with no humidity. Get it. But if you have humidity be prepared to stock up on batteries. *UPDATE 5/26: The company sent me another lock which I was super surprised since it's been a few years since I purchased. They were very responsive and listened to my issues and decided to send me a new lock free of charge! I've received the lock today and decided to update my review! So far so good but it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow so perfect test for the fingerprint sensor that had all the issues last time. 🤞🏽 I'll update in a few days. 😊-Also I forgot how easy it was to setup in app.

So good I bought 2 more
I read positive reviews of this lock on wirecutter.com, so I bought one to give it a try. I purchased it because I have had keypad and key locks from Kwikset for many years, but I was intrigued to add fingerprint recognition. The installation process of the lock itself was very easy. There was one hard part that didn't have much to do with the lock itself. For extra security, I wanted to install the metal 'box' that comes with the lock (and you can buy for any lock) that goes into the doorframe and that the deadbolts extends into. This gives better security from someone trying to kick in a door to defeat a deadbolt since the metal holds better than just wood of the doorframe. Chipping out extra space in my doorframe for the security 'box' was a pain, but again, it would be a pain for any lock, and you can always just choose not to use the box and save time. I was actually very pleased that Ultraloq included this with the lock. The metal deadbolt 'box' costs anywhere from $5 to $20 when purchased separately, so I found this a nice touch and a confirmation that security of the lock was a consideration for the company. Once installed, I tested the key, keypad codes for each person, and the fingerprint sensor for multiple users. From memories of very early iPhone's I was concerned that I would have to leave a finger on the sensor for a long time, but it turned out to be very fast. The fingerprint sensor worked so well, I was initially concerned it wasn't really checking the fingerprints, so I re-tested with other fingers from myself and other people and found it accurate as well as fast. I can pretty much just touch and release the sensor and it opens! One last thing. The locks I received came with Kwikset keyways (where you stick the keys to open the door). Kwikset and Schlage keyways are not shaped the same so you cannot re-key both types to use the same key if some doors have a Kwikset keyway and others have a Schlage. (I'm sure there are many other types of keyways, but these the the only two I am familiar with.) The other doors in my house had Schlage keyways, so I contacted Ultraloq support to ask about Schlage keyways and they sent one to me in a few days. The swap out was of keyways was just a few minutes with a screwdriver and a mallet (the fit was tight) and the whole swap took 15 minutes. Most people would not do this extra step, but I mention it because I received exceptional support on this and was very pleased the company would send me the alternate keyway. I liked my Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro so much I bought 2 more a couple of months after the first! They have all been working flawlessly so far. I plan to re-key all the locks to use the same key soon now that all my locks have the same keyway type. I really like the U-Bolt Pro locks and I really appreciate the great customer support that I have received.

Not Exactly Trouble-Free, But Excellent Customer Support
My in-laws live in the same condo complex as we do. Between the two of us, we end up calling for an ambulance about once every year or so (yeah, long story, but off-topic.) When EMTs encounter a locked door, they will very politely ask, "Do you give us permission to forcibly enter?" Given a choice between possibly dying or having a damaged door, the correct answer is, "Go ahead," whereupon they will very politely force open your door. You are now blessed with two problems: firstly, whichever ailment, affliction, or mishap requiring you to call 911 in the first place, and now a door that can't be locked while you and your family are in the Emergency Room. For this scenario alone we opted for a smart lock. The one in our place works very well and has not given us any issues since we purchased it 3 years ago. "Alexa, is the front door locked?" "Alexa, lock the front door." "Alexa, unlock the front door." (Whereupon it responds, "What's your voice code for the front door?" so someone can't just yell through an open window.) My in-laws' smart lock has had two issues, one serious and one calamitous. Starting with the worst one, the lock suddenly froze up. All the lights lit, but it did not respond to either the fingerprint reader nor the keypad. Worse, the two physical keys were not available. U-Tec's customer support was unable to assist further. We ended up having to have a locksmith drill out the lock. Fortunately, their customer support offered to replace the lock free of charge. The serious one dealt with the Alexa integration. We could lock and unlock the door from the U-Home app, but we couldn't get "Alexa, unlock the front door" to work. We tried almost everything, from rebooting the phone to power-cycling the lock to uninstalling the U-Home app to disabling the U-Tec skill in Alexa. We even tried power-cycling the wi-fi to Bluetooth bridge required for our model w/o built-in wi-fi to integrate with the smart speaker. Their customer support was very patient, detailed, and understanding. And, they suggested something that seemed absolutely silly to me: to reset the wi-fi to Bluetooth bridge that I had already tried unplugging and plugging back in. Seeing as the lock responded to the U-Home Android app and not the Alexa skill, it had to be a problem between their back end servers, right? Obviously, with this buildup, resetting the wi-fi to Bluetooth bride was the solution. I'll be damned if I could explain how that could happen, but it worked, and that's because their customer support noticed that I did everything except that step (aside from resetting the lock, because that would zero out all the fingerprints we've already authorized.) Again, in 3 years time, one lock was rock-steady, and another had 2 issues. I'd buy it again, but that's because I'm already familiar with the ecosystem. You make your own call.

No compren YALE.

Easy to setup and use
Very happy with this smart lock. It was easy to install and set up, and the fingerprint and keypad functions work smoothly. It’s convenient not having to carry keys around, especially when coming home with the kids or carrying shopping. The lock feels solid and secure, and the response is quick and reliable. Overall, a great upgrade for the home and good value for the price.

Best Smart Lock Ever
When I first bought a smart lock years ago I really wanted a fingerprint reader but the few that existed had horrible reviews so I got one with a code instead. But now that every kid in the neighborhood knows our code I figured it was time for an upgrade. The fingerprint reader works so well that I never use a code other then when I first set it up. Never replaced the batteries yet, and have never needed to use he key. I've set it up so it auto-locks so I never need to worry about it being left unlocked. Install: Installing was a real pain. My door frame had a strike plate but my door did not but the lock requires it. I used a dremel to cut out room for the strike plate to get it to fit. But then the lock was slightly too long and the it would rub the latch when locking just enough that it didn't work. So after many micro adjustments, cutting, dremeling it all worked. You might get lucky and not require any adjustments or you might end up needing to hire someone to install it. Just depends on your door. Thankfully I only need to install it once. I got the wifi kit. I rarely use it. It connects well enough. I plugged it in to an outlet near the door. I have a google mesh which is both 2.4/5Ghz and didn't have any issues. It's nice to let someone in when you aren't at home and you can see a history of people who unlocked the door (assuming they use a fingerprint or have a unique code). And you can check to see if you forgot to unlock the door. Alexa. I've only tested this out to lock the door or check the status. But since it's set to auto lock I don't use it very much. Other than the install I'm really happy with the lock and would buy it again. It's pricey but you get what you pay for.
