Steady Fork Attachment

Bought this attachment for a friend, he seems to like it. I will update review after I get his opinion, once he has had it for awhile. I will add more stars after I see how long it lasts. We are past return date though. Fingers crossed. Update:seems to be working great!

My husband is 74 and has had essential tremor since he was 20 years old. In addition 3 years ago he suffered a stroke. He was embarrassed to eat in public because he shook so bad. This Liftware fork and the spoon have been a God-send to us. I would recommend these items to anyone with palsy or have difficult eating because they shake. He was not very happy about the initial cost, but once it came and he used it, he is happy. There is no more dirty shirts or food on floor around his chair. Hopefully someday medi-care or private insurance can help pay for these types of "medically necessary" devices. We are going to show his Neurologist when he goes back to see him.

HORRIBLE! Worked well for first year and 2 mos. and then stopped working completely. I cant use it at all. Liftware is refusing to repair or place it-for almost $300 they need to do better. Liftware did repair the device however they said they found water damage-the only liquid that it was exposed to was milk that had gotten in between the spoon and the handle. So please address that gap Liftware. Otherwise, Liftware has been so helpful.

We purchased this in addition to the Liftware Steady Kit for a family member who has Parkinson's Disease. The idea of the Liftware from Lift Labs in Mountain View, CA is a really nice one. After watching some videos of PD patients who have used Liftware, we were inspired to purchase these items to help our family member, who has some difficulty picking up his food and eating with regular utensils. We tried to get our family member used to using it. But unfortunately, he never quite got accustomed to using the Liftware Steady Kit, or even this steady for attachment, which he felt like always wobbled whenever he tried to use it. He felt the same way with the spoon attachment that came with the Liftware Steady Kit itself. So much to our disappointment, we had to return both this fork attachment, and the Liftware Steady Kit to Lift Labs. Although our family member never got used to using these items, we would still highly encourage other PD patients to give it a try if they are having trouble picking up their food and eating. Just because it did not work for our family member does not mean that it will not benefit other PD patients.

This is the best purchase I have EVER made in my ENTIRE life! I cannot express enough the difference this has made for my father with tremors. He was almost being fed continuously by my mother. He has Independence again, he smiles at mealtime. He goes out to eat in restaurants again! It comes with a carrying pouch. Holds a charge for several meals. We bought the fork adaption with the spoon at the beginning. The soup spoon that comes with it is actually a perfect size for him, so we didn't get the teaspoon. Dad can eat soup again !!

My Mom has essential tremors, and unfortunately this system wasn't able to sufficiently mitigate her particular shaking, which turned out to be too wide a cycle for Liftware. The concept is great, so we had to try. Wish things were otherwise. Returns were no problem.

I purchased this as a gift for a friend of mine, whose hands shake quite a lot. She absolutely loves it, and she takes it with her everywhere. This device really can make a big difference in a person's ability to enjoy eating, especially in public.

After just two weeks it wouldn't stay on the main unit and was unusable because it would just fall off. I admit that I haven't contacted Lift Ware customer service yet, but will.
