Works great! Plants a bunch of new plants. This is a great way to gauge if they need water or not so you don’t over water them.

A very simple, basic product. No electronics, no moving parts. Just stick the metal rod into the plant soil (I usually check in two or three different spots) and it tells you on the dial how dry or moist the soil is. Some plants don't like the soil to ever get dry, other plants should definitely be allowed to dry out before being watered, so you need to know about your particular plant to fully benefit from this product. This moisture meter does prevent overwatering (which is a frequent cause of root rot and plant death). My only negative note is that the meter seems a bit fragile: I dropped one on the floor and although it looked fine, it stopped working (it would always read totally "dry"). I think the probe got disconnected from the meter inside the plastic top as a result of the impact sustained when it hit the floor. That's why I bought a second one.

Quite helpful in preventing overwatering houseplants. Just keep the probe clean after each use and this will probably outlast you.

I bought this for my mother; she used mine a few times when helping me water my plants and said I could get her one for her birthday! I can recommend a moisture meter for anyone wanting to make watering plants easier and more reliable. Plants can be fussy little... darlings... But after I got myself a moisture meter a couple of years ago they have gotten the right amount of water when needed(a must when I somehow have managed to aquire about 100+ of them...) and it shows! It's very quick and easy to check how wet the soil is; no more forcing a finger in or hoping you guess right with a stick or something. I've dropped mine to the floor too several times, so I know they can handle a few bumps here and there :)

Good soil meter, I’ve been wanting one for a long time specially because I have way too many indoor plants and I never know when it’s the right time to water them. I would say it’s pretty accurate regarding soil temperature.

Update at bottom of review!!! Not changing my 1 star because I don't believe my soil was too loose as it was 1 part regular soil, 1 part succulent and a scoop of perlite which doesn't match the soil type description explained to me of why it might not be working. I did not test outside on soil so that was my mistake. They also said they do not compensate for reviews so I was incorrect in saying that. So here's some more info after my review on some advice from sellers if you might need it to make a decision or if reading this after purchase and product isn't working quite right. *I bought based off reviews on this but what I got is obviously defective and will be returning. I just repotted 1st plant 30 min ago and soaked it until water ran through and it's reading basically dry when it's obvious with the naked eye the soil it wet. 2md plant was watered yesterday and is at least slightly moist but it's reading dry dry and it is not dry dry at all. Better off using my finger to gauge water. This device sucks. So far, works good! Our previous one broke after a year, so needed a new one. Is doing what I need it to do. Easy to read & shows the moisture level pretty quickly.

Sehr praktisch – hilft wirklich beim richtigen Gießen der Pflanzen Ich habe mir diesen Feuchtigkeitsmesser für meine Zimmerpflanzen gekauft und bin wirklich positiv überrascht. Das Gerät funktioniert sehr einfach: Man steckt die Sonde in die Erde und sieht sofort auf der Anzeige, ob die Erde trocken, feucht oder nass ist. Gerade bei Pflanzen, bei denen man sich oft unsicher ist, ob sie Wasser brauchen oder nicht, ist dieses Gerät wirklich eine große Hilfe. Seit ich den Messer benutze, gieße ich meine Pflanzen viel gezielter. Der Feuchtigkeitsmesser wirkt stabil und gut verarbeitet. Die Anzeige ist gut lesbar und das Gerät kam ordentlich verpackt in einer schönen Box an. Früher hatte ich schon einmal ein ähnliches Gerät, das viele Jahre gehalten hat. Deshalb habe ich mir wieder so einen Feuchtigkeitsmesser bestellt – und ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dieser Entscheidung. Fazit: Ein sehr hilfreiches und praktisches Werkzeug für alle, die ihre Pflanzen besser pflegen möchten. Ich würde ihn definitiv wieder kaufen.

La sonde a l’air de bien fonctionner mais les affichages sont en anglais. Mais facile à comprendre. Avant arrosage l’affichage indiquait « dry » et après arrosage « wet ». La tige de cette sonde mesure 17cm et j’en ai commandé une deuxième de 32 cm (40 cm au total) pour des pots plus hauts. À voir sur le long terme.

Very happy with these no battery, no fuss moisture sensors for pot plants. So easy to use, just insert into the pot plant's soil, watch meter response for soil moisture content, remove and wipe probe tip clean with a soft cloth or paper towel. I've given one to a friend who has pot plants and usually kills them! The instructions don't say how far to insert the probe into the soil but I reckon at least an inch to get an accurate idea of how moist the soil is. If there's resistance, you may damage roots, so probe gently or try another spot. The top layers will dry out more quickly than further down, and make sure the pot is not sitting in water or the roots may rot. It's important to clean and dry the metal probe after soil testing, or it may rust. I found the meter to be very responsive as soon as I inserted the probe into soil. As you can't replace the battery, I have no idea how it will last before you will need to replace the whole item, which is not very environmental in the long term. There is a Plant Watering Guide on the box with a long list of plant names - some I am familiar with, but many I'm not - they're most likely plant names that are familiar to Chinese gardeners (item made in China), but not to many Aussies.
