Take a deep drive into the wonders of the sea with Julia Rothman's bestselling illustrated ocean guide. Follow Rothman’s inquisitive mind and perceptive eye along shorelines, across the open ocean, and below the waves for an artistic exploration of the watery universe. Through her drawings, discover how the world’s oceans formed, why the sea is salty, and the forces behind oceanic phenomena such as rogue waves. Colorful anatomical profiles of sea creatures from crustacean to cetacean, surveys of seafaring vessels and lighthouses, and the impact of plastic and warming water temperatures are just part of this compendium of curiosities that will entertain and educate readers of all ages. Also available in Julia Rothman's Anatomy series: Nature Anatomy, Farm Anatomy, Food Anatomy, Nature Anatomy Notebook, and Wildlife Anatomy. Review: Perfect for Aspiring Marine Biologists (and Parents Who Can’t Tell a Squid from a Shrimp) - Bought this for my preteen daughter who is convinced she’ll be the next great marine biologist. She now knows more about ocean life than I do, which means I’m regularly being corrected on everything from the difference between a seal and a sea lion to why we should thank plankton for existing. The illustrations are gorgeous, the facts are fascinating, and I’m pretty sure she’s preparing to write a thesis before middle school. Great book if you love the ocean—or if you just enjoy being schooled daily by your kid. Review: Gorgeous book for curious kids - This book is visually beautiful and packed with interesting facts. It’s the kind of book you can flip through casually and still learn something new. It’s great for nature lovers and works well for educational read-aloud moments too. Excellent addition to a home library.

Must have for your family library
I could not recommend Julia Rothman’s books more. The illustrations are beautiful and the content is well thought out. My children ages ranging 3-11 are all able to enjoy Ocean Anatomy with me. I enjoy the book too! As beach lovers we can use Ocean Anatomy to reflect on what we see after a day at the beach or to copy the drawings. The book was sent with minor damage already, but that’s a reflection of Amazon rather than the book itself.

Beautiful illustrations!
I bought this for my 7 (almost 8) year old daughter, who loves all things about the ocean/sea. I first was drawn to the book because of the illustrations, but all of the facts and how things are explained is wonderful too. My daughter can read well, so she can read some of this on her own, but I'm reading it to her since there are a lot of unfamiliar words. Definitely a great buy if your kid is into the ocean/sea and all of it's creatures! :)
