Great System and Subscription Free
Great camera system and really easy to set up and customise. Bought this kit while it was on offer as I've been looking for two cameras to cover my rear garden / summer house and front drive. I wanted a system that could record and save video, but without having to pay a monthly subscription and stumbled on these. So simple to set up and connect and the app is really good. There are a lot of custom settings which did everything I wanted, and the video quality it brilliant. I can easily recognise faces and read car number plates without any issue. Can't comment on battery life just yet as havnt had them long enough to see what thays like but I'm not worried. The cameras are easy to take down and charge so can't see that being an issue. I'm going to replace my ring doorbell with one that links into this system so I can have the recording features without having to pay for a subscription. The hub can store 15 gig of data internally, but it has a USB port on the back which let's you connect USB storage. I had a spare 64 gig stick I added and that will be more than enough storage for my needs. Love the feature where you can specify an area that the camera picks up motion. When I first put the camera on I got alerts when ever a person walked past my drive on the path, but i edited the detection area (which does not restrict the view) and now the camera ignores people unless they stray onto my drive which is exactly what I wanted. Great system.

very reliable security camera system worth considering (and latest EDIT)
We have been using this now for about a month. So here is our thoughts on this product. setup: Setup is pretty easy took about 30 minutes. Maybe the odd question was worded a bit weird, even rebooted for a firmware update -- but top marks on this. installing the cameras is super simple, except they dont have an angled or ceiling mount for some reason. Again didnt bother us but you might need to jerryrig a solution there. Cameras: in the pack is 2 cameras. The charge is supposed to last i believe 6 months. that i think is pretty wishful thinking on the part of Eufy. we fully charged the cameras (as requested in the installation) and it has dropped 1 pip on the battery bar in one month. Keep in mind our cameras are in the most heavily trafficked areas (front and back door) so they are pretty much pinging all day. i would guess charge every 3 months ( i will post here on first mandated recharge). only other possible concern might be the distance the camera could be from the base station. if you had a house with a lot of thick walls and long distances you might have an issue with camera connecting, but thats me guessing. Motion Detection: we have set the person setting on, ie only record when a person was moving. Well maybe where we live cats look like people because we have one cat in particular, religiously setting this off at 4am every night. Could i reduce a star for that, well yeah, but does anyone seriously believe all that, i certainly didnt. i am sure it does work, just not in the way i thought. it can pick up faces which is very interesting, that does work surprisingly well. It is also good on identifying motion, that particular cat is on the extreme side of the motion area and it always catches the movement. One other small quirk i noticed, in night vision mode it doesnt sense a motion activated light that goes on and technically should switch off the night vision, not a big issue but perhaps an update will fix small issues like this. Performance (movement to phone alert): this is where i have to say the system is pretty impressive. it takes around 5-6ish seconds to receive a notification. we have a pretty bog standard driveway ( 2 cars almost fit) and from the time i am in the catchment area of the camera to hitting the front step -- i receive a notification. we did try the press to talk function. it works fairly well, voice is a bit tinny sounding but it definitely workable if you were reluctant to open your door and the camera microphone is very good. in this live interaction camera session its about half a second delay for us- definitely usable. They also have geo fencing which is pretty cool when we both leave it activates. Reliability: this was replacing an older onvir based system of ip cameras which was buggy on its best day. the Eufy system has been flawless in this regard, 100% reliable. we even had a extremely rare power cut, the base unit just reconnected to everything automatically. Also because it stores the files locally there is none of the hidden monthly cloud charges involved . also if there was activity you need to record you can pull that to your phone. Overall: have to say, we are super impressed. their app works and looks good also btw, the interface to apple phones is also pretty easy (you can use apple own home setup to take camera feeds). The mark i try to use on products like this is 'would i buy it again?' the answer to this is a resounding yes, hence the 5 stars. Sure its got the odd white lie in the marketing (dont they all?) but i am willing to ignore that for the many many other benefits. So if you were on the fence on this, i would say if you were to jump to this, you are very unlikely to regret it. Jan 4th EDIT 2nd attempt, last edit bombed out and it was worded way way better than this edit ;) So happy New Year all. Firstly the cameras are still on one pip on the battery icon. That is pretty darn impressive to me. I will let them run out or at least red line before charging and if there is any further info i will add here. It is worth noting that the front and rear cameras are both on one pip even though the front would be used more. There is some educated guesses you could make here on how the backend system works but it would be speculation. I suspect the batteries will age in a bit as they cycle through their lifespan but at the moment -- way way better than i expected originally. Motion detection: this is still tripped by the cat (system configured to people recognition). she had changed her schedule a bit so there is that. Notification time: one thing i thought i should add. i mentioned about it took the length of an average driveway before my phone pinged. I had a think about this and my phone is going through a whole series of 'things' as i walk towards the door, not least of which is trying to connect to wifi. Im sure that is delaying the notifications by a small amount. Final Thoughts: you know whats best about this? it just works. its now just part of our house, like a tv or fridge or your mobile device. it just works. i have not had to login to reboot, tweak, update, modify, or worst of all (and we have all done this) had to explain to family members how whats happening is a feature not a bug (onvir wifi cameras im looking at you). This system just works and honestly much and all as i love fidgeting with IT stuff, there is something really refreshing about software and hardware like this that just does what it says on the tin. Could it be better, yes but its the ole 80/20 rule now for Eufy i suspect where they have all of the basics done right now comes all the bells and whistles and trinkets...nice to have but not critical. So we would still buy this again. Very impressed with it resilience (no reboots, no resets etc). Its what we wanted here, something that is 'set and forget'. Pretty sure we all want that or if not all, then the vast majority of people want. of you are a bit of a security camera expert and love doing the latest mods, then this is probably not for you. of you want something that just works; well all we can say is (as per the first review of this), would we rebuy?-- yep we definitely would.

I wanted to like this
I so much wanted to like this. It was great. Easy setup, easy everything. Picture was great, everything great. Well, almost everything. Shame you can only put 2 privacy zones on each cam and they have to be 4-sided boxes. You get 3 detection zones on each cam and they have to be 4-sided boxes too so it's not great but it doesn't really matter as the detection zones are ignored by the system anyway. But the major downside - I couldn't connect to the cams when on mobile data. Wifi was perfect but not mobile data. And that's really one of the main points of having security cameras. Eufy customer services were completely useless. Took them 3 days to tell me that this was an unusual problem so had to get the specialists to look into it. Meanwhile a quick google showed me hundreds of people with the same problem going back years and Eufy had not fixed the issue (and some had also been told that their case was unique). The thing is though, it worked fine on my wife's phone, just not mine. Same carrier, different phone makes. From my research it looked to be something to do with phones that have dual sim capability. So either I had to go and buy a new phone just to connect to the cams or return the cams. Sadly I opted for the latter and said goodbye. So whilst I do recommend buying this, just make sure you can connect over mobile data before you start drilling into your house walls. On the positive side, whilst testing the cams, I saw the top of my head and was dismayed to see the progression of my balding was far far worse than I thought so bit the bullet, shaved my head and feel loads better for it.

Exceeded Expectations!
After days and days of reading reviews, watching videos and researching, it came down to the Blink system of the Eufy. I have had an unbranded video doorbell in the past, and the notifications were always very late, but with motion sensors I understand that there is a trade off between an always on, wired system, and a system that needs to spring to life. I should also mention that our internet connection is not the greatest (around 5-8mb on a good day) which also does not help (or so I thought!). I was prepared for the usual lag and false alarms etc, but I have this system on highest sensitivity and having had it in for around 2 weeks now, I am really extremely impressed with it! We have a lot of triggers (around 100 a day per camera as we work from home ) but battery life is amazing considering (it should last at least 2 months at least at this rate if not more) which was a lot better than I anticipated. The notifications are so quick, and hardly anything missed when recording even with our dire internet too which is pretty amazing! I did note that this type of camera works best with crossing the field as opposed to walking directly towards it, so that potentially helps perhaps? Mounting them is so easy, the Homebase has way better range than our BT hub too (old building, thick walls!) which was a nice surprise. We have 2 Homebase units and 7 cameras in total, and the app allows you to scroll through all the cameras as if in one unit which is good too (I had trouble finding out if that's how it worked, but yes- multiple hubs/ cameras are seamlessly all in once place in the app). The app is also very user friendly. One thing I would like though, is to see a battery % (as opposed to just bars) when viewing the camera, you can see a % but have to go into battery management within the cog which just takes a bit more time when checking a lot of them at once. Very minor point though! One thing I will mention, is that when pairing the camera to the hub, if you have a lot of other electrical around, put them right next to each other (and keep them away from as much as you can!). I struggled for ages with the first one before I realised it just needed to be right next to it, and not right next to the other electronics in the office, then it was smooth sailing from there on it. I feel credit where it's due here, I am normally a little sceptical when something has very good reviews, but I think this system really 'does what it says on the tin' so long as you take the time to get the cameras in the right place (which is dead easy being wireless so you can experiment!) and the price for what you get it really fair considering what others charge. Only potential down point for me is as others have said, the lack of changing the battery. In reality though, so long as it lasts the 300-500 charges it is supposed to even with our elevated usage it should last for years which is good enough for me!

Simple installation that went like a dream, but....
First thing to mention is just how simple and easy this system is to setup and install. I can honestly say it went like a dream... I bought 4 cameras and the hardest part was waiting for a couple of hours for them to fully charge! Setup is just a few short steps... 1) Install the app on your phone 2) Power on the base, plug the network cable (RJ45) from the base into the back of your router, scan the QR code on the base Within the app 3) follow the “Really Simple” camera additions in the app You literally add the device in the app, place the camera next to the base and press the sync button 4) Update the firmware using the app (one click update) 5) Select which mode you prefer (Better surveillance or better battery life - I went for better surveillance) 6) Charge the battery 🤪 7) Pick where you want to install the camera, use the template to drill two holes and screw in the “Base cap” of the camera mount 8) Screw the camera onto the mount, screw the mount on to the base cap and using the live feed on your phone, position for optimal picture.. Actual installation only took me about an hour for 4 cameras (Charging the batteries aside).. Video feed looks great and the App is really simple, capturing all motion videos per camera.. Still playing around with the app to see the other interesting features for my liking and I’m sure time will tell on the battery life, however really pleased with this setup.. UPDATE - After 39 days, one camera ran out of battery and needs to be re-charged. Yes it’s the busiest camera and after the initial period of use here’s what I’ve found - There’s the good and the bad...The good- Yes it’s easy to setup, yes it’s a good deterrent, yes you can hold a two way conversation live streaming however..... See the stats I’ve posted in the picture, in optimal surveillance mode, the battery only lasted 39 Days and I have to say, it does not capture all events, there has been times when people have walked past and was captured by my other two cameras, however was missed on this one. It seems to miss the recording when the person is only there for a quick moment, as the recording cannot capture quick enough... I believe this is more a problem with the full wireless setup, so if you want full surveillance all the time, skip looking at a wireless setup..
