What's the difference between this and the red case set?

As far as I could tell only the price. I screen shot both sets and and the sizes were the same and both aluminum. FYI I rebuilt a GM 8.75 rear end and it worked but the handle was almost to short to drive the inner pinion race in. Just be careful.

How long is the handle, up to the collar that the disc sits on?

About 5”. I used it to instal races and seals on a gm 8.5” rear ended. It worked for the pinion race but would have liked it to be longer.

Has anyone found these are not enough disks to handle most jobs?

It's definitely not a "Master Kit", and probably won't work on 3/4 ton and larger trucks, but it's still a good kit to have .....
