good product, bad size chart
I noticed many of the reviewers said that their dogs were able to pull the muzzle off. I believe this is due to a problem with the size chart. I would recommend ordering the size you think your dog would be, not the size that the chart tells you to order. My dog (Lab mix) would have been an XL if I had added the two inches that the size chart recommends. I ordered a Large instead, and it fits her perfectly. I could see that if it had been any bigger, she would have been able to pull it off easily. This muzzle is made of plastic, and would probably break with an extra persistent dog, but it does seem comfortable and lightweight and has worked for my dog.

Needed to go up a size
My border collie needed a muzzle to stop licking a wound on his back paw. The cone worked, but it prevented him from using the dog door, and with us at work nine hours a day, it wasn’t a good situation. He measured on the high end of a Size 4, so we tried that first (pink one in photos). It fit, but a little more snugly than we’d hoped. He could kind of drink with it on, but he couldn’t pant. We used it until the Size 5 arrived (Black one in pics). It’s roomy enough that he can drink more easily and pant. He can wear it all day without hindering his ability to move around and use the dog door. Tip: hook the strap through your dog’s collar to keep it in place. Our dog figured out how to get it off on day 3. Looping it through the collar has worked great. Pros: Cheap; flexible; great for dogs with a licking problem because it completely blocks the tongue from getting out (unlike every other brand I could find); dog can drink and pant with it on. Cons: Probably not durable enough for a rowdy dog; strap needs to be snugged down every so often; easy to get off if not paired with a collar.

Better than expected
I wasn't expecting too much from this product, based on some of the poor reviews and it's cheap price. This muzzle has been great though. It comes in many different sizes, and I can't imagine it not fitting if you took the time to follow the directions on fitting your animal, then proceeded to order the proper size. Even if you order the wrong size for the muzzle, the strapping has a huge amount of adjustment play. The great thing about this muzzle is that it's lightweight, so it's not as bothersome to my dogs, so they don't fuss with it. Of course, you will need to train your dog to use a muzzle, especially if they've never used one before. I can only imagine the negative reviews from this muzzle coming from owners who just put this muzzle on their dogs and left it there without training. Of course the dogs is going to fuss with it and try to get it off, possibly breaking it in the process. The BEST thing about this muzzle is that you can leave it on for an extended periods of time, even when not supervised. A warning to dog owners who are thinking about muzzling their pets while they are not there: DO NOT LEAVE A CONVENTIONAL MUZZLE ON YOUR DOG WHILE NOT ATTENDED. I know owners who will leave their dogs muzzled while they go to work, or leave the house, in an effort to prevent chewing, fighting, etc. Just beware that with a conventional muzzle a dog can asphyxiate if he throws up while wearing a muzzle. With this muzzle, the dog can open his mouth, and there are large enough openings that the vomit can easily pass through the muzzle. The dog can also drink with the muzzle on, and you can still give him treats. He will also be able to pant with this muzzle, which is important for the dog to be able to cool himself. If you take the time to familiarize your dog with the proper use of it, you should have no problems with this muzzle. I just ordered 5 more of them.

Waste of Money.... Buyer Beware
I was buying this for my dog's (Chow Chow) trip to the vet at the end of the week. As he does not like the vet and tries to bite them in the face, I thought it would be a good idea to get a muzzle. As a basket muzzle is more comfortable for the animal and I only needed it once a year I went with the cheapest alternative... You get what you pay for. If I could leave zero stars I would.... This product is so horrible the company that makes it, is too embarrassed to put it's name on the product anywhere. Here is the list of issues I have with this product: 1) Cheap plastic... 2) Fabrics straps almost ripped in half as I was adjusting... 3) Chow Chow had it off in less than 5 seconds..... He did not try that hard 4) Pitbull had it off in 10 seconds .... She did not try at all... It loosened as she walked down the stairs... 5) Does not appear any thought was given to the comfort of the dog... Which I do not like I will be returning this for a second time and buying a Baskerville 8-1/2-Inch Rubber Ultra Muzzle, Size-5, Black I would go with a Baskerville basket muzzle which Amazon also sells, It is a far better product even if it costs $12-$15 more. If you intend to you this on a regular basis I would ask a pet expert of your local vet for the best muzzle solution for your situation.

Good fit, but cheaply made and not secure.
I bought this muzzle rather than one of the more expensive muzzles of higher quality (that I happen to know work well and are comfortable because I have four of them for our pitbull/great Dane/rottweiler mixes) only because those were too wide and short for our 3 year old Belgian Malinois/Czech shepherd's longer, narrower muzzle. I admit that I did not have high expectations for this muzzle because just looking at the photo of the German shepherd dog wearing it made me think it would be too easy to remove. Turns out I was right. The lack of an over-the-head strap makes this vulnerable to being pulled down off the face by a paw if the dog is resistant to having it on his face. Our pup is fairly calm and took to it pretty well, but whenever he got excited, his paw went straight for the tip of the muzzle and off it came, to dangle at his throat. In addition, the muzzle has a very cheap, stamped out feel. With care, it probably won't break anytime soon but it feels flimsy enough that it could be cut through with scissors or snapped in half if bent too far. It has somewhat sharp edges on the individual "bars" of the basket portion where it came out of the mold as well. I had to sand down a few spots that I thought might cause irritation. I also added a strap at the top to go over the head so it would stay on. Since we rarely need to use it on him, we can live with it, but if he needed to wear for long periods, I would probably try to find a better made product. With all that I have said is wrong with it you may wonder why I gave it 3 stars. Well, in fairness, I have to say that it fits his face better than any other muzzle--including the expensive ones--I have tried. Other muzzles tend to be high on the bridge of the nose and can even somewhat obscure the dog's vision. Most also tend to be short and wide--which is fine for dogs with short, wide muzzles, but not all dogs have that shape face. This muzzle offers plenty of length for a comfortable fit, without being so big everywhere else that it weighs the face down, and the shorter upper portion of the basket does not push up over the eyes. In fact, if this muzzle had a forehead strap and was built a bit more sturdily (with rounded bars on the basket instead of flat, stamped out ones) it would be perfect. Too bad they went to such pains to create a good fit, then stamped it out of cheap plastic!

Great product, check my tip for training and like my post! This was a great buy for my pup and he now muzzles it!
I purchased this for my King Doberman, he has hot spots he refuses to stop licking, this caused and infection and lots of vet bills, he can lick around the cones and is too smart for his own good. I ordered this to stop his licking. I have adopted retired racing greyhounds and for them a muzzle was nothing new but Rocko was not used to his muzzle so to introduce him to it, I added a spot of peanut Butter to the end and said muzzle it. He quickly realized he gets it on with a bit of peanut butter and focuses on the peanut butter and now goes straight into the muzzle no issue. If i forget to add the peanut butter, I just get a bit on my finger and rub it on the side! Haha Makes it a tougher way for him to get it and he has to work so he stays in muzzle without trying to remove it for long periods of time. It took a bit of training but he is doing well and you can drink thru this muzzle, a bit sloppy but he was sloppy before and I like that for the hotter spring days. This was a great buy and works amazing. If you have a dog and need a muzzle, use the peanut butter trick or a bit of spray cheese depending on what your pup likes and they will muzzle it every time!! :) Woohoo hot spots are healing and my vet is not getting my money anymore.

poorly designed clasp makes this useless for me
The muzzle itself is fine and would have been great, the fit was perfect for our dog unfortunately the little plastic clasp that snaps behind the dogs head is the Achilles heel of this device. It is very weak and is actually easily unsnapped with light pressure, my dog quickly found out that by pushing forward on it with his paws he could pop that clasp and remove the muzzle.... we ended up ordering Dean & Tyler Dog Wire Basket Muzzle for Everyday Use Size #R2 - Fits Perfect Breeds Rottweiler, Golden Retriever, Labrador, Mastiff Etc...- Please Measure Your Dog's Snout and Match the Right Muzzle Size or Contact Us for Sizing!!! - Snout Length 3.9" -... which is fantastic, the only downside is that you must be much more careful measuring this muzzle for your dog as it is a very precise fit, but it is amazingly well crafted. I would avoid this muzzle at all costs if you have a dog that can problem solve.

Nice quality
Purchased to help prevent him from eating poop on hikes and should have gotten a size larger than recommended for his size and measurements. It’s not a hard plastic but reminds me of silicone almost which I like better for him than other plastic ones I have had. Outside of it being a size too small (dogs should always have enough room to fully open their mouth to pant and breathe properly) it’s really nice quality! Very easy to adjust to put on and looks comfortable! This will definitely keep him safe from eating unwanted things when we are hiking and (when I size up) will give him ample room to pant and drink!
