In her 37th bestselling novel, Danielle Steel tells the compelling story of a woman who must struggle to overcome a shattering betrayal, and the cruelest kind of malice. At seventeen, the night of her mother's funeral, Grace Adams is attacked. It is not the first time, and a brutal crime ensues. And to everyone's horror, Grace will not tell the truth. She is a young woman with secrets too horrible to tell, with hurts so deep they may never heal. She is also beautiful enough for men to want her no matter how much she does not want them. Whatever the outcome, Grace Adams will have to live with whatever happened during those terrible years. After a lifetime of being a victim, now she must pay the price for other people's sins. From the depths of an Illinois women's prison to a Chicago modeling agency to a challenging career in New York, Grace must carry the past with her wherever she goes. And in healing her own pain, she reaches out to battered women and children who live a nightmare she knows all too well. When Grace meets Charles Mackenzie, a New York lawyer, she has found a man who wants nothing from her-except to heal her, to hear her secrets, and to give her the family she so desperately wants. But, with happiness finally within her grasp, and precious loved ones to protect, Grace is at her most vulnerable-in danger of losing everything to a vicious tabloid press and an enemy from her past, an enemy bent on malice at all costs. With rare insight and power, Danielle Steel writes this extraordinary woman's story, portraying her struggle to triumph over malice and betrayal, and to transform a lifetime of pain into a blessing for others. Revealing both the stark reality of domestic abuse and the healing power of love, Malice, is more than superb fiction. It is a piece of life. Review: An exciting and intriguing read! - Danielle Steel keeps amazing me with her work. Malice is the second Steel book I have read to date and it far reached my expectations. I thought with the title Malice that it would be a mystery, but to my surprise it was so much more. The characters in the book are so real and the main character feels like they are sitting next to you as they tell the story. It didn't take me long to finish the book, because I found myself coming home from work and reading before I started dinner. It is a sad book and makes you wonder how many people actually live in horror each day. It makes me want to do charity work for abused children. This is a great read! My first Steel book was Southern Lights and Malice is soooooo different! There is still love, but what a rocky path Grace has to walk and survive to get the fairy tail life..then Steel throws another curve and Grace's past comes back in an attempt to end her fairy tail.Courage Review: Amazing book! - This is an amazing book that I couldnโt put down. It portrays the horrible stories of children abuse as well as what journalism has turned into, how they can destroy anyone just for a profit. Very well written and it makes you think of how low humanity can get.

Absurd and Daily Shocking.
This gut wrenching novel Malice wakes a person up to our daily intake of take offs of people's misery and events of daily life. This is the second time I read Steel's book and it was stomach churning how hungry people are for sordid sensationalism on a daily basis with no disregard of truth or how the lies affect the victim's lives. I take a much dimmer view of the damage that this book brought to light in this novel very touching. The story of Grace Adams is worth reading.

A book totally off the DS beaten path..
I totally loved that she took this book to a whole new level. I've read almost everyone of her books and if I hadn't seen her name on the cover I never would have thought she wrote it! There's an honest to God sex scene! pretty descriptive too. ALTHOUGH it has the tried and true endless tragedies for the female character, they are different from her norm. Slightly repetitious at times.. but I couldn't put it down. I don't want to ruin any of it for other readers.. But I would love to know if anyone else was as blown away as I was! I loved it, A great read! Hope you enjoy! --Gina

Loved it!
I have been reading Ms. Steelโs older novels and this one did not disappoint. Grace went thru so much but came out a stronger person. It was hard reading the first chapter because of what was done to her, but she never let anything get her down. She kept moving forward. I loved watching her grow and become a beautiful, caring and independent woman. She won in the end. โค๏ธ

Enough is enough
Grace Adams had been abused both physically and emotionally by the two people who were supposed to love, protect and cherish her. The citizens in the town of Waseka did not believe Grace had been brutally attacked and raped by her father from her early teens. The law enforcement, the courts and the people of the town believed her father was not capable of such heinous crimes towards his own flesh and blood, thus finding Grace guilty of manslaughter. Grace had to endure most of her teenage years and half of her adult life constantly having to defend herself from malicious attacks towards herself and her loved ones. Great story it's sad and frustrating at times and happy and joyful at others.
