History, yes, service, no
If you want a book to tell you about the history of old outboard motors this book is for you. If you want a book that tells you how to work on old outboard motors this book is not for you. It gives a good guide as to who made what and when. It is not a service manual.

Best book available on Antique and Vintage outboard motors
This is the definitive book on old outboard motors. Much has been written on individual motors, or brands, but none other, is all encompassing. Thumbnail outlines and brief history of all major and minor brands of antique outboard motors. Price guide is outdated but still the only general source, available.

Great book
This book is the closest thing to a complete reference text on old outboards. The price list seems a little low for a lot of motors, but prices for outboards vary greatly based on what part of the country you are in. It has some great charts and covers the history of every major outboard brand. Must read if you like Old Outboards.

If you are interested in old outboards, you need this book!
A wealth of information here. Information on EVERY brand of old outboard from around the world. There's even a good bit of reference material in the back, including a price guide, but his prices are extremely low compared to outboard prices in my neck of the woods (New Orleans). Even so, still an interesting and informative book.

While I loved this book
While I loved this book, as it gave me lots of information.. It did not have my Johnson Motors outboard listed in it. Possibly because mine was made in Peterboro Canada, and not in the U.S. Model: OKL 20. Serial: 97568
