Yes this is pefect for traveling. It is lightweight and folds down to about 28 inches long and approximately 3 inches in diameter at the base end. I use is for night hydration needs with my feeding tube and it sets up nicely right next to the bed.

How much weight can it hold?

Well, I put 1 liter bags. If I put a bag of more than 1 liter, I put another one to keep it stable. With bags of 1 liter or less it is excellent. I hope this tips can help you

What is the exact maximum height this can be extended to ? One post says 5'6" other says 6' 6" - I need 72" (6ft) or taller

Be aware there are two points that need to be untwisted and extended. One point about half way up and the other is just below the hooks. Fully extended, just under 70" to bottom of hook for the bags.
