Better than leather belt strop
This flat base leather strop is an excellent finishing tool and easily one of the most useful additions to my sharpening setup. The included polishing compound is simple to apply and absorbs well into the leather. Once worked in, it makes a noticeable difference in honing the edge. After sharpening, the strop takes the blade from sharp to truly razor sharp. You can feel the refinement immediately. It cleans up the edge, removes any remaining burr, and leaves a smooth, precise finish that cuts effortlessly. The flat base design is a major advantage over a traditional belt strop. The added stability keeps everything controlled and consistent, which makes a big difference when working with very sharp blades. There is no flexing, slipping, or awkward angles to manage.Overall, this strop is well made, effective, and easy to use. It produces real results and feels safer and more reliable than hanging strops. Highly recommended for anyone serious about maintaining a razor sharp edge.

Great strop.
Great add on to their combo stones. Excellent for removing the burr allowing you to get a very sharp knife.High quality build.Comes with a block of green stroping compound

Good strop, not my favorite compound
First, you want to use this alongside a real sharpening solution. This isn't going to sharpen your knives, it's just going to polish the edge and make it nice and smooth. So get a whetstone or something else to actually sharpen your knives as a first step.As a polishing strop, I have no problem with this in terms of design or construction. It's well made, the leather feels fine and it has a rubber base so it doesn't slide around. It also fits perfectly into the top of the Sharpal whetstone kit for storage, which is kind of an unadvertised convenience feature.I'm taking a star off for the included polishing compound. Now, this could just be personal preference, but they include a "dry" compound that kind of goes onto the leather like a crayon. It feels just like that. In the pictures on the box, they show completely covering the leather in green compound, which is both really hard to do but also results in essentially what feels like a wax surface. It doesn't even feel like leather anymore. It does seem to work. My knife edges come out looking nice and shiny, so I guess it is removing whatever dust and other material is on the blades. It just has a very waxy, unsatisfying feel, and I'm not convinced it works better than "wet" compounds, or even no compound. The instructions do say that the leather itself is effective for polishing, so don't worry if you miss a spot with the compound. If I had to do it again, I'd probably still buy this but then get a wet compound separately for it. That's obviously an extra expense, though.

Well worth every penny
Been using this paddle strop as an intermediate step between honing stones and a hanging strop for my straight razors. This one's great, with nice quality leather and sturdy wood base. The polishing compound is also good, while being a bit on the dry and flaky side. I tried diluting the compound with some honing oil and it seemed to do the job just right. A very thin coat of the polishing compound and honing oil goes a long way.The bevel guide came in handy when I decided my pocket knives needed some stropping too. Not a life-changer but definitely a nice addition if you ask me.

Just What I Needed
This made the difference in my knives being sharp to the touch and shaving hair. The trick is to spend some time on a quality stone resetting your edge on an angle guide that suits your needs (example: 25, 20, 17, 15 degree angles). Then, you gotta lock in that form and grind. Once you’ve gotten to the finer grits, use this strop with the compound and maintain that angle until you polish your bevel is shiny.Even the best knives require sharpening and this quality strop will perform that job. It seems to hold up well, but to minimize the abrasions to your strop and maximize you should consider moving the knife away from the cutting edge towards to spine.

Makes sharp knives even sharper
I wish I knew what these were capable of sooner. Well before the modern electric knife sharpeners really got popular I invested in a Lansky Sharpening System but always had mixed results and I didn't use it often enough to justify the initial purchase price. I would typically just use pocket sharpeners that are easier for most to get a decent enough edge. When COVID hit I decided to give a Ka-bar a new edge after having effectively ruining it with a pocket sharpener. I turned to YouTube and found a good tutorial on how to get the most out of the Lansky system which is where I discovered stopping hones. I bought a Lansky Strop and I was impressed by the difference it made and went through and put an edge on every pocket knife I owned. The Lansky had its limitations being a thin and short strope. I found this gem and couldn't believe just how much of a massive improvement I got in my edge quality. This thing is excellent for longer blades and pocket knifes alike. If any of my knives need a refresh this does it quickly and effectively. I've been able to polish my edges to exceed anything you get from Kershaw, CRKT, Ka-bar, Spyder Co, Cold Steel & many others. It helps to hear the rouge with a heat gun or hairdryer so it sticks to the strope longer but it works pretty well at room temperature as well.

204N: Good value at under $20
Pros- leather came flat and mostly free of defects.- wood is nicer than many strops at a higher price point.- leather took the compound easily.- nicer materials than expected for $19.-anti-slip pads are nicer than the common feet.- the leather doesn't feel cheap, like you'd expect sub $20 strop to feel.- effective at what a strop is for- burr removal/polishing/bringing sharpeness back.Cons- packaging contains a cutout for the leather to be felt. This cutout however increases the potential for part of the leather to be damaged (mine came with a small tear where the cutout is)- the edges of the leather would be better if they were chamfered.Overall I'd recommend this strop to anyone looking for a smaller strop that is simple yet effective. The included compound (which should last an individual for many years) and angle guide make a nice bonus to this already good value. Unless looking for a larger strop, one cannot go wrong with this choice.

Impeccable
