How to Invent Everything: A Survival Guide for the Stranded Time Traveler

In simple , albeit not very detailed way , this book tells you how to recreate all the technology that we humans have had since our existence : fire , clay , metal work , fuel ,transportation , flight , medicine , music , art , computers . Easy , small , fun chapters with useful footnotes . A gem .

This is my favorite book, it appeals to my sense of humor perfectly and gives me plenty of fun facts to relay to my friends.

Really fun read. I love the imaginative scenarios the book places you in.

The bulk of this book is an actual survival guide with things to reinvent and different formulae, but it you are not looking for cold hard facts like me you won't like this. This isn't a book you read for the story (although it is super funny).

Great as a bathroom book, or for time traveling. Makes you think of human history and how far we've come.

Im about halfway through the book, and Im enjoying it a ton. Its very humorous and light-hearted, so reading it is pretty entertaining. The parts of history classes I always loved was getting to hear all of the stupid errors humans have made in our past (I never cared to hear about culture tbh), and this book covers that well.If you want to learn a lot of new things, then this is the book to get. Do keep in mind that if you do not have an engineering mind, then this book might not do you much good. To go through EVERY inventions building block components takes a heavy amount of knowledge surrounding the basics.

This should be in every prepper's library. Well written and laid out.

For a book about how to invent "everything," this book is very limited in scope. It doesn't have anything which even potentially related to combat (not even how to make a spear or bow and arrow, let alone gunpowder and explosives), or anything related to society (no discussion about legal codes, police forces, or religions).The parts it does have are somewhat disorganized and don't always do what they purport to do. As an example, in the section about how to get good drinkable water, he discusses how to create charcoal (?) but doesn't describe how to use it to improve water (??).As a minor note, the narrative frame of being a time traveler does hold the book together, but there is a lot of annoying cruft which gets in the way as a result, such as the advertisement sales pitch for a imaginary time machine.Overall the book is interesting and collects information you could find online in an easy to read and digestible format. That being said, there are numerous major flaws which make this book merely "ehh, it's pretty good I guess" rather than being a stellar specimen.
