While the story seems simple on the surface, the plot delves into the darker side of human nature and discuses what brings people together--sometimes NANA O is narrating the story, sometimes its Hachi--both women talk about each other and the decsions they made in their lives and their constant worry that their opposing lifestyles will drive them apart.
