Let's Go for a Drive!-An Elephant and Piggie Book

Ordered this big boy book for my twin 3 year old grandsons. The book is wonderful. The construction is great. The pages are thicker then normal books so the little hands don't rip them as easy. This is a wonderful funny and easy to process book. Simple growing stories with simple messages. They are wonderful!!

I bought this for one of my new to English students who doesn't have books at home. He loves this series! It is 1st grade level but the humour was enjoyed by this 3rd grader. The author uses repetitive words and phrases which helpful to beginning readers but keeps the story moving and interesting. The illustrations are cute and the emotions of the characters are well depicted, giving new readers additional context clues. I highly recommend Mo Willems books for beginning readers and plan on purchasing more for a family member's child when she begins reading.

I started reading to my now toddler when she was still a baby. I was a bit bored by all the children's books until I discovered Mo Willems. Then, when she started comprehending a bit about what's going on on the page (first more in terms of pictures), this was a bit complex for her. She did, however, like Willems's Cat the Cat series at the time. Now she's 22 months old, and wow, she just LOVES Elephant and Piggy, and all the Pigeon books! (The Knuffle Bunny series has to wait a bit longer, probably for a year.) She asks me to read "the drive," "the rain" (are you ready to play outside), "the pigeon bath" etc. over and over again, and I am happy to indulge her wishes! So many children's books (surprisingly for me) have lazy rhymes or underwhelming illustrations, and sometimes confusing or even downright dangerous "messages," but Mo Willems keeps the storylines light and funny, and I never have to "adjust" my reading by changing the text. I'm so grateful we've discovered him early on!

Family favorite books! They always make us giggle! My kids love piggie and elephant!

This series has quickly become a favorite. Elephant and Piggie are always getting involved in some sort of shenanigans. This book is no different. It contains a good lesson on being adaptable when plans change

My five year-old was really resistant to learning to read until she discovered Piggie and Gerald books. They are perfect for her! They are funny, the illustrations are wonderful, and they have a lot of repetition of sight words, so they are great for beginning readers! Now instead of fighting to get her to read, she asks me, her brothers, her grandparents, and her friends if she can read the books to us! "Let's Go for a Drive" in particular is very funny, the illustrations are funny as always, and the repetition of sight words is great. My daughter's favorites are "Should I Share My Ice Cream" and "I Will Surprise My Friend", but this book is definitely on equal footing with those!

My little boy aged 4 loves all of the Elephant and Piggie books. This one is just as good as the rest.

Todos los libros de Gerald&Piggie de Mo Willems nos encantan! Los dibujos son preciosos y tan expresivos! Los niños se ríen y divierten muchísimo con estos libros. La colección completa es un tesoro (unos 24 libros). Este en particular es muy divertido! Están escritos en un inglés muy sencillo y con letras grandes. Se pueden traducir fácilmente o leer directamente en inglés. Son muy sencillos de leer ya que los dibujos son tan expresivos que se pueden entender muy fácil en cualquier idioma.

J'ai découvert ce livre et j'en suis tombée amoureuse <3 Je l'ai commandé pour lire des histoires simples à ma fille en anglais et j'ai adoré l'histoire et les illustrations. C'est humoristique mignon et instructif. L'auteur est Mo Willems qui a participé à 1 rue Sésame et au célèbre Muppet Show plus jeune. Je ne connaissait pas cet auteur mais il a gagné avec ce livre et plusieurs autres de la série Piggie and Gérald (le cochon et l'éléphant) des prix c'est mérité. A découvrir absolument!!!
