The leather is great and the paper is superb , I use mine as a travel book for all sorts of scribble and note taking . I use a fountain pen with it and the paper holds up superbly to even the wettest feed and nib without bleed through . There are no card holders or other pockets or slips , it's just a solid journal . I would suggest it's one of the best at the price . I have cut the thong down and used the offcut to stitch on a bookmark which is super handy . It also looks superb and feels superb .

Forgive the clumsy video, one handed demonstrations aren’t the easiest! I bought this to use for sketching out ideas and plans for my dressmaking. I wanted something beautiful that would make me want to use it all the time and get my ideas out of my head and onto paper! I couldn’t have made a better choice. The leather is so soft to the touch and the suede inside is smooth and not overly textured. Has a lovely patina already and will no doubt improve with age, it marks fairly easily but this is what I wanted and expected. The hand binding is perfectly done, everything feels very secure and I personally prefer that the method used divides the book into smaller sections. I initially had some issues with ordering the wrong colour but contacted the seller and they were incredible, very understanding and attentive and offered to go above and beyond to make sure I got what I was looking for. Truly exemplary customer service. If you’re looking for a great quality rustic leather sketchbook/notebook you’d struggle to find better than this and at a much better price than I’ve found elsewhere. Can’t recommend highly enough!

I purchased this as a present for someone who seemed genuinely pleased to receive this item. They like writing notes and ideas so I hoped they would appreciate the notebook. The quality is very good both the leather and the paper. It’s appearance is a vintage style. You can smell the leather, and overall I am very happy with this purchase.

This is my second time purchasing one of these journals. They're 10/10 incredible. The paper is nice and thick. The cover is flexible but sturdy. Both are being used as junk journals and they definitely serve their purpose. The paper is A5, with the cover closed it’s probably about a cm wider.

I don't normally write these, however this product is truly a dream. The soft leather is obviously of quality and feels great to the touch. The plain paper is a perfect for sketching and note taking. There's a distinct smell I adore when opening the book. It's rapidly become one of my most prized possessions and holds all my deepest thoughts and ideas.

Honestly spent ages searching online for a good journal. I wanted something I could write, draw and do thought exercises in, something that would make me enthusiastic about making an entry in. And I am not disappointed. The book is lovely, smells like fresh leather, the paper is amazing. This makes me want to make those entries, I feel excited about my next entry. Tips for beginner journal writers: • buy a fun pen, like a calligraphy or fountain pen to make each entry like an art project or give you that historical vibe. • Get a journal that makes you enthusiastic about entering your thoughts. • If you don’t know or are anxious about what to write in your first entry, write about that anxiety or nervousness of making the entry and then record where you work, what you do, where you live, any pets you have, because in a few years you’ll look back and realise how much things have changed, or that pet may no longer be with you. • Writing about the things and people you love, or things that make you feel strong emotion will give you the best value out of your journal, as when we are emotional, writing about it can help us sort through our thoughts and feelings rationally. • Perform some CBT or Stoic thought exercises if you are needing things to write about. These can be of great benefit to your mental health and help you be resilient each day. As a practising Stoic, this diary is an exceptional entry into my arsenal of tools to combat the turmoils of life. This journal, or any handmade by KomalC will surely become a great friend and assist you in your journey.

I didn't want to have a basic cardboard writing book, I wanted to have something special for my use case. When I opened up the package for the first time, I was already impressed that the book came in a nice, classical-style black cotton bag to keep it in. When I opened up the book, I really liked the authentic smell of leather. It set a tone for the book, and the addition of a leather strap to keep it shut, it made it feel like a center peice rather then just an accessory or journal. 10/10, will buy more as I need them, and the craftsmenship is impressive!

I've had a lot of journal, sketchbooky things in my time but I love this one. Like all Kamal's products, this is hand made and top quality. I expect most journal/sketchbooks like this to eventually fall apart, but the binding here is extremely well made and will not be coming apart. the book has a good quality rag paper, with a thick inner binding page, and leather cover. I was a book binder, and I really like the quality of this journal. The paper is a good quality cotton rag, not too absorbant, so markers won't bleed everywhere. It is a bit rough textured, so it will be good for pencil sketching as well. It's not too rough for fine ink line work or writing in with a quill type pen. Lastly, it comes with a cloth pouch, which is a nice touch. Overall, I love this journal. This isn't the fanciest I've seen, it rather reminds me of something you'd see an explorer pull out on an expedition. If Indiana Jones actually did archeology he'd use one of these.
