Tamiya Models M4A3 Sherman Model Kit

This is not the newest Tamiya kit on the market, but when this and their other Sherman kits were released in the 1990s, they were state of the art. Despite their age, these kits still build up very well and are excellent choices for beginning or casual modelers wanting a trouble-free build that has a reasonable level of accuracy. Most notable criticisms of these Tamiya Sherman kits are the lack of sponsons (the area above the tracks) that prevent someone from seeing straight through from the hatches to the ground. But this is solved with a little sheet plastic if that bothers you. The single-length vinyl tracks are fine for a "tight track" tank like the Sherman, but are about one link too long. Cutting off one link's worth of length from the "male" attachment end solves this issue as well. This and the other 2 Tamiya Shermans still hold up well for anyone wanting a budget-friendly, relaxing kit that will result in a nice model you can be proud of. Experienced builders can also use the kit as a base for further detailing with great success. Recommended for all skill levels.

I enjoyed building this kit simple and easy to understand instructions with plenty of stowage. The only thing I don’t like about the kit is that the tracks are rubber

This is a plastic model kit which will require assembly and painting. It come molded in olive drab plastic. Tamiya is a Japanese company known for the military models, paints and glue. This kit represents the U.S. Sherman tank which was widely used in Europe and to a lesser extent in the Pacific. I refer to this as the short barrel Sherman, the U.S. would later outfit some Sherman's with a more powerful cannon in response to German armor. Some Sherman tanks in the Pacific theater had flame throwers for a main weapon, to burn out Japanese troops hidden in bunkers and caves. Like all of most Tamiya models it is finely detailed and parts fit well. It is a kit that can keep a builder busy for hours. I really like this kit.

Lots of options for the stowage, tank commander and weapons. different canopy options. Well worth it the money, an easy build. Infantry alongside significantly add to the realism. Makes for an amazing Diorama. Well done Tamiya.

Really good kit, shipped fast. I was hesitant to buy this kit as most Sherman kits out there are pretty innacurate. This one for a "bargain" kit is pretty spot on and a $10 upgrade sprue you can find at most hobby stores can fix the inaccuracies of this kit. Things I liked about this kit: LOTS of bits and bobs in the way of field packs, ammo packs, spare tank tracks and wheels to make your Sherman look authentic. Kit was easy to assemble, not too much to clean up with the hobby knife as far as mold lines go. Lots of miniature's to do a diorama with and plenty of kit to go along with them. Things I disliked: Upper hull and lower hull fit is just riddled with gaps, get your filler putty ready because this is NOT Dragon quality. Typical Tamiya upper / lower design means that the space above the treads is hollow. No interior detail- you can assemble with the hatches open but why would you? the interior of the tank is just a giant unsightly hollow area. Rubber one piece tank treads, I guess I'm spoiled by magic tracks but the look of the rubber treads sucks, there should be a natural "sag" when the tank isn't in motion- these fit like a rubber band and you can risk stretching them without them snapping. Overall a very good bargain kit but if you are serious about your bench time and want something really nice go with a Dragon for the extra $$$.

This was a very enjoyable kit to build. Everything fit perfectly and is top notch Tamiya quality. Happy with the whole experience. Photo attached is an in progress shot….lots more fun to be had with this build. This is not a toy and Amazon has a “toy age group” that is not applicable here. I’d say 16+ builder with experience would enjoy this kit.

Perfetta la riproduzione, addirittura ho anche la possibilità di sostituire i pezzi per avere fino a due versioni del carro.... tanta tanta roba. Ovvio pazienza a non finire per montare il tutto, ma non sono modellini "banali". Molto molto bello. Ho acquistato altri due carri sempre della stessa marca e vi devo dire che ho fatto bene sono molto ben fatti.
