Brickhouse US lawman Luke Hobbs and British ex military turned bad guy turned good guy Deckard Shaw who first appeared in the Fast and Furious movies at film 32 now have their own spin off. This one finds Shaw's sister steal a really nasty virus from Black Superman Brixton who has plans to wipe out humanity and start again with a race of super humans. Brixton himself is genetically enhanced so much so that he even manages to punch The Rock in the face! Behind all of these sinister plans is a mystery voice controlling everything, a voice that I am sure will be revealed in a sequel that will now doubt be announced in the next 10 minutes. Anyway, there is punching and kicking and shooting and some things blow up and then the film ends. Now one of my deepest and darkest secrets in life is that I actually really enjoy the Fast and the Furious movies. They have got sillier and more over the top with each movie but I still find them immensely enjoyable. I don't have an excuse, it's just the way things are so deal with it! So with this love I was obviously drawn towards this silliness also. However, this one lost me. There were some enjoyable aspects to it, the banter between Hobbs and Shaw is funny, the action sequences are so ridiculous they will also make you laugh plus there is one particular cameo that also had me laughing too. So far this sounds like a comedy but it is also supposed to be an action film and that's where it loses out, the action is just too ridiculous and silly that it ends up looking like a cartoon plus the whole sci-fi element of genetically engineered super soldiers just didn't seem like a good fit. There were also things like a timer counting down to add tension but the timer seemed to still be counting down 4 hours later and it was only a 30 minute timer and our 2 heroes took 2 and a half hours of film time to discover that if they worked together they might be able to defeat the bad guy and the biggest flaw, how is Deckard Shaw even a good guy after what he did in previous movies?! It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There are brainless and enjoyable action movies out there but it's a thin line and this movie crossed it.

No hay mucho que decir respecto a este articulo. Es excelente, con muy buena claridad de imagen y buen contraste. Este disco nos demuestra de lo que el Blu Ray FHD es aun capas de hacer aun y cuando no se tiene la oportunidad o presupuesto para dar el salto a 4K. El sonido ATMOS es desgarrador y bien posicionado en cada bocina según la imagen en pantalla. Para quien tenga la opción de elegir entre esta presentación y la 4K, les comento que la 4K es de igual manera increíble en el apartado de colores y cuanta con mucho mayor claridad y contraste gracias al bien aplicado HDR. La única cuestión a considerar estaría en la diferencia de precio. Respecto al servicio de entrega, no tengo quejas, todo entregado en tiempo y completo con su SlipCover el cual últimamente con Amazon ya no se sabe si llegara o no.

This is an ancillary story that may or may not be tied in with the larger Fast & Furious franchise. The basic story is that Hobbs and Shaw are recruited by the CIA to team up to recover a virus that an organization with a mysterious "Director" who has some kind of past with Shaw is trying to unleash. It also brings Shaw's sister (played by Vanessa Kirby) into the mix, and she does a great job playing off the chemistry between Statham and Johnson. The main point of the movie is the three of them having to team up, all while Hobbs and Shaw try to one-up each other (as seen in the trailer) and stop Idris Elba's character who is basically an enforcer for "The Director". The tone and feel of the movie is a bit like the Fast & Furious movies, with over-the-top stunts, fights, and chase sequences. The acting is a bit better than what has been in the other movies, but it is never going to win an Oscar. The cinematography is wonderful, especially at the end when they are on Samoa. And, there are a couple of hilarious cameos by Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart. For those who get the 4k blu-ray, the movie looks and sounds great in the UHD format. There are well over an hour's worth of bonus material including an alternate opening and deleted scenes. And, the bonus material is included on the UHD disc, not just on the regular blu ray that is also included in the set. Overall, this is a movie that you know what you will get. It is action-heavy, with a blend of humor and a bit of drama. It, like the other F&F movies, is a bit tongue-in-cheek and does not take itself too seriously, aside from the family vibe that the other movies have. If you like the other movies, while I cannot guarantee you will like this one given that none of the other characters show up or are even hinted at in this one, chances are good you will find this one enjoyable even if you do not love it. It is definitely worth a couple hours if you are in the mood for an action movie.
