External CD DVD Drive for Laptop & Mac with Case, USB 3.0 Type-C

Great CD DVD drive. I use it for my Dell laptop, and it was very easy to use. Had some software to install and this CD DVD drive was just what I needed. Simple plug and play. Love the thin design and that the USB connection cable easily stores flat on the bottom when not in use. It also came with a power cable in case needed, but so far, I have not had to use that. A perfect addition for my laptop. Now I can once again access stored and backed up files that I had on CDs. I also hope to watch DVD movies but have not tried that yet. The company was also very great and attentive to make sure everything was good. Highly recommend. UPDATE: I did put in a DVD to watch a movie and this CD DVD Drive functioned perfectly. Thumbs up all around!

My purpose for purchasing this item is to read and extract data files from a CD. I use a MacBook Air and was skeptical at first when I bought this, given numerous negative reviews saying the device isn't compatible with macOS. I still gave it a shot, considering it wasn't labeled as a frequently returned item. I'm happily surprised to find out that it is compatible with macOS. The following is the setup I used that specifically worked for me. Even though it has the ability to connect directly to usb-c, I opted to use an apple adapter to connect usb-a to usb-c. I connected the power cable to an outlet and it ran smoothly. It was plug-and-play, no installation required. Aside from the case, it is a plus that the cables with the exception of the power cable can be tucked in under the device making it more convenient when stored. Overall, I'm satisfied with this product as it served its purpose.

Purchased for my husband for viewing educational DVDs on his laptop, which does not have a built in DVD player. He had to install DVD player software since his computer didn't already have it. He found that both the recommended 5KPlayer and VLC player software apps were easy to install and easy to use. Some people may have to temporarily disable their laptop firewall for the download/installation. As for the DVD player itself, it has a nice finish, is easy to use and does what it is supposed to (play DVDs), and it seems to be sufficiently solid and well built. The extra features that he really likes are that it has both USB and USB-C connections, and that it has storage slots for these connection cords when not in use. I believe the USB connections are 3.0, which has a much faster transfer speed than than 2.0. The unit also comes with a separate cord to power the unit if needed. This would not be needed when attaching to most laptops. However, it's nice to have just in case. Lastly, he also really likes that it has a very nice padded case for the player, which is great for storage when not in use or for transporting without scratching up the unit. The case has a main compartment for the DVD unit and a smaller side pouch, both with solid zippers and nice rubber tabs that make the compartments easy to open and close. The smaller external pouch is perfect for storing the power cable and the simple printed instructions. The literature/instructions that comes with the unit is not extensive, but is adequate since it's a very simple unit to operate. The few things that might be less than ideal are: 1) the unit is a bit thicker and heavier than some other units (not an issue for use, only potentially for transporting); 2) it's a bit noisy on starting to play a DVD, although not once playing; and 3) the top does smudge a bit with handling (very minor issue). He has only had it a few days so cannot comment on durability. However overall he seems to be quite satisfied with the purchase and I believe would recommend it.

I needed an external CD drive for a new laptop. The description for this one met all of my needs and there were plenty of positive reviews. The item arrived quickly and was well packaged. The drive comes with two USB cables; one that is attached to the drive and securely fits in a groove on the bottom of the drive. Very convenient! I plugged it in for the first time and within five seconds it was ready to rip. I ripped four CDs into my ITunes folder the first time I used the device and there were no issues. The drive also comes with a very nice, well padded carrying case that has a zippered pouch on it to store the paperwork and spare USB cable. I wasn't expecting that. It makes it so much easier to carry around and travel with. If you are looking for a reasonably priced CD drive, look no further, this one is great!

I got this to go with my new all in one PC. And since it is all white I want everything to match. And this does. I actually love the design of it. Very contemporary. The cord is a bit short but I have a seperate USB connector for that reason because you do not get a lot of USB ports with an all in one. But it is very stylish, and so far have used it a few times and the speed to RIP my cd's was pretty fast. It does make a little bit of noise, but that does not bother me. It doesn't last long for one thing and two, at least I know it is working. While playing a music disc however I do not notice any unusual noise and I have pretty sharp hearing. I saw other comments about it not sitting flat because the USB cord will store underneath it, which I actually like. No worries about losing or misplacing a power cord. But I do not have this problem. After you have taken the cord out and before you plug it in, the cord does have a rather short corner there, if you gently maneuver the cord so it is actually running through the open space, then you shouldn't have this problem. I am just guessing this is the issue because I almost did it myself. But then I am pretty detail oriented and could see right away that must be the culprit behind the few complaints I have seen. So for anyone reading this I hope that helps to clear up that problem for someone. Mine sits perfectly flat, opens and closes nicely and so far am not having any issues with it at all. I am very happy with mine, the price was competitive with other similar ones and I would recommend it to anyone just looking for an external CD/DVD RW. I have not yet used the record feature which I will be doing. But do not feel as though I will have any issues. In the event I do, I will update my review. I bought the Roofull External DVD-RW Drive to watch the DVD versions of the TV series LANDMAN. It comes in a nice soft-sided carrying case that zips closed. An external pocket on the case contains a connecting cord that has a USB 3.0 connector on one end and a USB-C connector on the other end. That small pocket also zips closed. I did not need that cord, as a connecting cord is already attached to the player--this cord folds neatly into a slot on the bottom of the player. The connecting cord has both a USB 3.0 connector and a USB-C connector on it. I used the USB-C connector since I could set the DVD player right next to my laptop, which is a Dell 13" XPS computer. I called up a DVD player app; inserted the DVD of the series in the player; and the episodes displayed immediately on the laptop screen. I clicked on the episode I wanted, and the player started immediately. The player worked perfectly and was very easy to connect to the laptop. I was extremely satisfied with the purchase--good value for the price.

This item fit the bill exactly. It works as advertised, and has extra ports for connections of USB devices through this drive, as well as an ethernet port, which my computer doesn't have. Its footprint is small, which is great for my work environment. It's a good value for my money.

This external CD drive is exactly what I needed! When I switched to Apple Music a few years back I didn’t think I’d ever use iTunes again so I bought a laptop with no CD drive. Recently I obtained a rare CD that cannot be streamed and I learned I could still use iTunes - enter Roofull! Foolproof to use - Literally plug it in to USB port and it’s set to go. Love that I could get it in white and the case is the ideal accessory!! I’m now loading many old CDs. Do not hesitate!!
