Question 1

I am hearing all sorts of distortion and motorized sounds in my video.  In fact, the camera is constantly making motorized sounds.  Is this normal?  Update, I posted a video  in the review section- please offer feedback.  Thanks

It's normal for cameras with motorized zooms, but the HS30EXR doesn't have one of those. I don't shoot a lot of video with this camera, but as it happens I did last Saturday and got surprisingly good sound. Of course since it happend to be a video of a B-17G revving up it's engines, the sounds were definitely motorized. :)

Question 2

"JPEG+RAW" setting gives 2 .raf files, no .jpg. 
[Update] Must choose one format or the other; to get both, have to export paired .rafs to PC, then convert there. 
FastStone and Irfanview (free) are good for conversions, as is supplied Silkypix software. PS E11, despite some clunkiness, works fine with .raf RAW.

That's strange... I just did it with my camera, and selected the option "RAW+JPEG" from the RAW menu (under SET), and when I checked in the camera, I had a pair of files with the same name but different extensions (one JPG and one RAF). Now, opening the RAF files is a different matter, since I use Linux...-rw-r--r-- 1 daniel users   924191 Mar 29 15:40 DSCF2334.JPG-rw-r--r-- 1 daniel users 25437456 Mar 29 15:40 DSCF2334.RAF

Does this one come with the Lens Hood like advertised by Fuji?

Question 4

This camera seems to have so many functions.  Can you send it out by itself to take pictures in bad weather or do I need to wait for the next model?

While in inclement weather it won't go out by itself, it does everything else.  I think in anything technical, waiting for the next thing out does not always mean better but sometimes  more complicated.  I am having a great time with this camera and I am always surprised and pleased with all the different functions.  I use the manual settings equally. It offers me all the different magnifications in one package. I am very pleased with my pictures and their clarity. PS Overcast weather is perfect for photos. If I miss a shot it is because I wasn't prepared with the proper setting. My bad..not the camera.
