how many on are in the set?

The set has three burp cloths. Well worth the price. They are very durable and versatile.

What is the length of these cloths? The photo (elephant pattern) makes it look much longer than the described 10".

Best burp clothes I own. I have a total of 12. In all colors. These burp clothes are perfect in length (22") and thicker than other clothes. Also very soft. Love them!!

What shape are these? I see pictures where they are rounded on both sides and then others where it looks straighter on one side.

They are rounded on both sides. Almost like the shape of a figure eight.

Are they good for fabric painting?

Probably not the best fabric to paint on. Very porous (absorbs baby spit up) so you'd need a lot of paint. They also aren't a smooth surface and have a checkerboard pattern to them unless you stretch them out.
