I just bought this a few weeks ago. I used it this week and it worked perfectly with a projector for several hours. I owned one that had the HDMI connector on a short cable, which was not made very well. The VGA end fell apart pretty much right away. I taped it back together. It eventually stopped working. I like this one much better since it more compact and in my view reduces clutter behind the computer, It seems very solid. The only negative is the VGA socket end has no way to screw the VGA connector into the adapter, but it holds the connector very tightly anyway. It should be okay. I bought several of these for the guys at work. No complaints from around the room. Have you noticed laptops manufactures are getting away from providing VGA outputs? This fixes that little problem very well and cheaply.

I have just received my adapter and plugged it into the back of my Xbox One and have verified that the video and audio worked. I am connecting my Xbox to a computer monitor that doesn't have HDMI in and I'm using small computer speakers. So my concern isn't about best video/audio quality. Although both are adequate for my particular needs. My concern was if the form factor would fit into the HDMI out port that is located next to the large power connector. I can report that it fits perfectly/securely and has plenty of room for the VGA adapter to plug into it and not disturb the power connector. I can say that the form factor for this is solidly built. It also comes with a male-to-male 3.5mm audio cable that is about 3ft (1m) long (that I didn't use in the photo).

I have a home theater system that uses an IR blaster system to control the electronics which are located about 15 feet from the screen. I tried using this to connect an IR sensor with a male audio connection to this adapter. The adapter then plugged into an HDMI wall connection. The HDMI cable runs through the ceiling to the IR receiver/blaster where I had to plug in the 2nd HDMI/audio adapter to the HDMI cable on the other end and then plug in the male to male wire that came with each adapter, into my IR receiver/blaster controller. The IR sensor would not respond. My current setup involves connecting my IR sensor to a 2-wire audio connection in the wall and the 3rd wire from the IR sensor to my cable TV wire. The cable TV wire and speaker wires run through the ceiling and end at the IR receiver/blaster controller where I spliced in the 3-wire audio, male plug and insert the plug into my IR receiver/blaster controller. The current system works great, but I needed the 4th speaker wire connection in the front of the room to be able to wire my subwoofer to. I was hoping the HDMI adapter to audio would work in order to free up the 4th speaker wire connections. Nope. It didn't work. I'm looking around my home for some male VGA plugs to see if I can use those to wire up my IR blaster system. If that doesn't work, I'm planning to return both adapters.

As with other 1-star reviewers, my converter worked for about 5 minutes and then started working intermittently. The picture flashes on for about 5 seconds and then it goes off for about 5 seconds. On and off et cetera. The audio stopped working all together. I tried the unit with a laptop and a Blu-ray player as output devices. I tried two different monitors too. No combination resolved the issue. Looking at other reviews, if you get one that works for a long period of time you're probably lucky. If you get one that is defective, you'll find out after a short period of use. Edit: The company sent me a free replacement unit that was a USB powered version. The replacement worked.

I bought this adapter as an experiment to see if what I'm trying to accomplish works or not. Some background, I'm trying to make use of an older HDTV that does not have an hdmi input but has the component and vga inputs. I'm good with connecting my laptop via the 15-pin vga and audio cable. However, I'd like to connect a Roku or Apple TV type box, which only has an hdmi output. I tried the laptop's hdmi output and it worked as expected. I think you need to have some pretty short cables to avoid the flickering as some have mentioned. The longer the cable, the weaker the signal. I'll re-review in a few months.

Worked perfectly, as advertised. At first, I thought that it was incompatible, but I had not switched my Roku LT resolution to sync with my VGA monitor. Now, I get nearly-HD resolution on my otherwise unusable, old, widescreen monitor. How wonderful! I hooked this up for my mom so she could follow stocks, watch TV or movies, or listen to streaming music while busy in the kitchen without having to go back and forth to and from the family room. After failing to switch my Roku settings and contacting Tendak, I was offered a couple quick solutions. Great, same-day customer service! The audio also works perfectly. Nothing like getting exactly what you were looking for and what was advertised at the same time. Excellent experience, Tendak!

Worked on and off for 6 weeks. Required wiggling to get a fully colour picture after 3 weeks and at 6 weeks lost all colour. Quite a weak casing so vulnerable to destructive wear and tear damage after a lesser than expected period. I thought the price would bring more quality than competing devices but $10 down the drain for 6 weeks average use. Look elsewhere.

Did not work at all using a Gamecube to HDMI adapter. Did not work for displaying 320x240@120Hz over VGA.
