Zvi's story is a unique perspective on the Holocaust
I knew of Zvi from his magazine column and always assumed he had been sheltered by "Righteous Gentile" Christians during the Holocaust and came to faith because of them. I couldn't have been more wrong. He had the worst kind of abrupt end to his childhood and survived without a concentration camp experience by keeping his head down and using his wits. His parents agreed to send him to an orphanage, hoping he would survive. He was, in fact, the only member of his family who did survive the Holocaust, but the orphanage closed not long after he was taken there. After searching for his family and finding no trace of them when the war ended, he took the opportunity to try to go to Israel. Zvi also helped me see the British detention centers in a new light too. He learned from Israeli military leaders how to fight while interned in the camps. Zvi studied the scriptures diligently for himself and his faith came from an honest search for truth. He knew going in that he would suffer for that faith, but he embraced faith in Yeshua Messiah because he was convinced that He is the Way the Truth, and the Life--and he loved the people who persecuted him in beautiful and creative ways. I highly recommend this book. It is a true story of triumph coming out of tragedy.

Very Interesting
A good story. More the story of Zvi's Christian journey than a Holocaust story. Very interesting from the perspective of early Israeli culture, offers insight into aspects of every day life you don't encounter many other places. I didn't realize there were little enclaves of Christians and their churches in Israel during the early days of the nation. It was also very interesting to read about how others reacted to the Christians, many of whom were "Hebrew Christians." Definitely worth the read.

Very Inspirational and Captivating
I will start by saying that I am generally a slow reader and sometimes don't finish books. This book was so good that I was captivated and moved by this true story that I finished it in record time (for me, that is). The real miracle is the working of God. In the face of so much adversity Zvi, Jewish by birth, became a true believer and witness for God. He was a real inspiration and affected the lives of so many around him with God on his side. It is a well-written factual story set during World War II starting in Poland with the Holocaust. Zvi (not his birth name) lost everything and had to struggle and survive against all odds. He finally makes it to the new established state of Israel only to face more adversity from his own people even while he fought for his country as he became a strong Christian witness. His testimony will inspire and uplift any Christian with whatever life's problems to develop a stronger relationship with God, to understand that God has a plan and purpose, and to be a true witness for Him.

Fascinating--talk about a different POV!
This is a heartbreaking but still fascinating and somehow uplifting tale of a young Jewish boy who survived the Holocaust all alone, by his own wits. After finally escaping the hell in Europe and making it almost all the way to British "Palestine" by ship, he and his fellow refugee shipmates are interned on Cyprus. At the dawn of the modern Jerusalem 3,000: THE POISONER'S AGENDA Jewish state he finally reaches the land of Israel only to be immediately thrown into combat, unprepared, untrained, but knowing there is no alternative but to fight again for survival, this time against five attacking Arab nations. But the story does not end there. It goes on over the next five decades, as he finds a job, marries, and continues to be called into service in the Israeli army. His incredible skill and brave dedication as a sapper in the Israeli army through the course of 5 wars earns him respect and friendship. But there is a shocking twist to the story. This man, a Jew, an Israeli citizen, a trusted Israeli soldier, had been irreligious as a youth. He'd never studied Hebrew. Dumped on the shores of the struggling state as a teenager, he largely teaches himself Hebrew, using a classic text, the Hebrew Bible. How this affects his world-view, his marriage, his children, his neighbors, is a story unto itself. Olivia Rodan Jacobs, author of Jerusalem 3000, The Poisoner's Agenda --- [...]
