Needed a USB 3.0 adapter that could handle micro SD cards (used in my Samsung phone and tablet). This little "hub" has an "SD" card slot and a "microSD" card slot; exactly as indicated in the product description. Using this adapter is easy. Plug it into a standard USB type "A" socket, insert SD cards into either or both slots and do what you need to do. I plug mine into my desktop PC running Windows 10. It was immediately recognized, added two drive letters and I was ready to rock. Works well in either USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 type A sockets. The slots can be used simultaneously. I've copied one SD card in one slot to another SD card in the other slot. Works fine. I've had no difficulty inserting or removing the SD cards in their slots. With this product, I finally have an adapter that lets me read and write SD and microSD cards at USB 3.0 speeds. Very helpful loading files on a SanDisk 400GB microSD card! Happy I have this little adapter.

I bought this to use with my Samsung EVO select 128 gb micro SD card. I was able to get write speeds of 60mb/s (your mileage may vary depending on your card). This is great to use as a flash drive substitute and you can have both the micro SD and SD card populated at the same time. Cons: It is plastic, so don’t expect great protection. The sliding mechanism is poorly done, and may expose the usb-A port to damage. It does heat up under extensive use but I’ve transferred files of 14 gb regularly and it was lukewarm at worst. Side note: my sandisk 64gb micro sd card using the sd card adapter has write speeds regularly below 20mb/s (14 avg), I do not know if it is due to the SD card itself or if SD card transfer speeds are slower.

Nifty little device. I had a similar micro USB adaptor but it seems to have gone missing. I ordered this to troubleshoot my mircoSD which was not being recognized by my phone. I was able to use this adaptor and check the drive on my PC to find the problem. 5 out of 5 would recommend.

It works well and I didn't have any trouble with either the SD card slot or the micro SD card slot. The only thing I didn't like is the smart cap. It's nice that the cap can't be lost with the design but somehow I always accidentally pushed the cap forward when inserting the reader on my computer and it annoyed me a little but otherwise I like the product. Pretty much it's as described and overall the reader is good with fast data transfer.

I use a digital camera that takes pictures and videoes. I plug this into my laptop so I can manage the picuters and movies. Works great and fits in your picket.

This thing is too cool! I've been using it for a while and it works great. It slides open and closed to lock in your sd or micro sd and it's perfect for what I was trying to do. The other day, it was connected to my laptop, and I accidentally bumped it with my arm, and it bent upwards. I didn't slam it or use excessive force, but it still bent. So I used my plethora of engineering and electrical knowledge and bent the sucker back in place. She still works, but she's bent a little, poor thing. So fair warning, watch out and try to avoid bumping it at all cost.

Filling out the review information and they asked me to rate this on “Warmth”. I guess the current crop of data storage adapters is going for a more feelings based rating system, as opposed to the more traditional “speed / capacity / reliability” model. So... how to frame warmth - numerically, or more metaphorical? I should probably go with Ben Franklin’s timeless quote, “The blessings of liberty are many, I mean, ‘several’ is probably closer... but more than a few, anyway.” Of course, this was long before the Internet, so it was literally months before his first reply was posted in the Philadelphia Journal of Commons. Astute reader JohnHanc76 noted> “Franko, U baked or wat???”. Certainly by today’s standards not the toastiest of roasts, but still brought some mid 1700’s heat. Likewise, this adapter is more than adequately warm for all of your SD card adjacent needs, but would require several dozen to do any serious cooking.

Bit skeptical at first. But I needed a new card reader as my old dynex internal card reader I installed into my gaming rig felt awfully slow. I'm assuming it runs on a usb 2.0 interface. This thing makes doing a full format snappy. It took me probably 5 hours to format a 128 micro sd card (PNY ELITE-X). This make it dramatically shortened to half an hour to an hour maybe I don't remember. That's how quick this thing is. I can't comment for over heating issues other reviewers are having since I don't primarily use it for long periods. It does get warm with long use.
