DEWALT XTREME 12V MAX* Cordless Drill / Driver Kit, 3/8-Inch (DCD701F2)

I replaced a 10+ year old Dewalt drill with this one as the batteries were shot. I almost just replaced the batteries (with off-brand replacements since you can't get "real" ones anymore), but decided to get this drill instead. I love this one. It's about 2/3 the size of the old one, has a fabric case instead of the big rigid, plastic one I had, and is so much lighter and comfortable to use. And because the bag is flexible, I can store my drill bits and screw tips (etc.) in there so everything is all in one place, making it easy to "grab & go" when I need to fix something. It seems just as powerful, maybe even more. I've had it for a few months and only charged it once so the battery life seems excellent. I just use it to fix stuff around the house, so am not using it for a full-time job. But for my purposes, I can totally recommend this drill.

This absolutely fit the bill for my mom for around her house. Previously using old old Dewalt battery drills, they were brushed, heavy, and the batteries just continuously failed. Finally decided to try the smaller new Dewalt 12v drill out for her. It is perfect for the scenario described. Easy for whatever possible home project she wants. It has absolutely enough power to handle basic home tasks, but not enough to accidentally twist a wrist if handled a little off. The controls are super simple, and she greatly appreciates the light on the hilt of the grip. Highly highly recommend for that family member who needs light tools for various projects they have.

Great little drill, lightweight and solidly built. Comes with two batteries, charger and a carrying pouch. However, if you're planning to expand your DeWalt tool collection, be aware that the 12V battery it uses isn't widely compatible with other tools. After doing some thorough research, I found that it's tough to even find a basic LED light that works with this battery, whereas the 20V system has a wide range of compatible accessories and devices.

Lets be clear, this is a 12V drill, dont expect it to have as much torque as the 20V, but for a 12V it is bad ass, this is made for all day repetitive jobs where weight would be a factor, I've driven 3" #9 framing screws on a small framing project, tested a 1/2" drill bit thru a 2x4 with no issues, even though I'm positive a 20V drill should be used for both job. In conclusion this drill is made for cabinetry, sheet metal on framing, hanging stuff on walls and drilling all day long depending on battery, 2mh are good, I'm testing the 3mh right now, DeWalt quality all the way, feels great in the palm of my hand, comfortable. Would NOT recommend for new home owner FIRST drill, unless you already owe something with more power. Hope this helps.

This drill/driver is killer. It is my go-to drill. Yes, I would purchase it again.

Bought this drill for the lighter weight, to use in my indoor hobby shop. There are lighter drills out there, but none match the power this drill delivers. The only gripe I have is that the batteries are only 2 amp hr. I think all power tools should come with at least 3 to 5 amp hr batteries. I'll edit this post when I use the drill a little longer, to gauge the time one gets out of a fully charged battery. I like the feel of this drill, and could see myself using this on more strenuous construction products. it also has a belt clip you can attach. The bag that comes with the tools is a nice little bag, and actually has room for a second tool, maybe the Dewalt 12v sawzall, which would use the same batteries. Anyone wanting a lighter weight drill should definitely consider this product.

Love this little drill. It’s perfect for a woman hand, small and lightweight. It’s not powerful enough to do big jobs but for hanging curtain rods and putting furniture together, etc it is great.

As an aircraft mechanic, this is a tool I use constantly. Only problem was that I needed it around the house too. Liked it so much that I bought another one. You can’t go wrong, best multi-purpose screwgun/drill I’ve ever owned & I’ve been using them for over 20 years. Great battery life, durable, good torque for the size & weight. I use the clutch as a screw-knocker on stuck fasteners & it saves me from taking the time to go get the rivet gun more often than not.

Vient avec 2 piles, chargeur et, bien sûr, le sac pour ranger le tout. L'outil est léger et petit donc parfait pour ce que j'en fait. Tout se range parfaitement dans le sac et il reste encore assez de place pour ranger autre chose au besoin. Je n'ai pas encore testé son efficacité (reçu aujourd'hui) mais, d'habitude, on ne se trompe pas avec cette marque. Je reviendrai probablement plus tard pour peaufiné mon commentaire si nécessaire.

Good machine

I purchased this drill because I was manufacturing outdoor chairs and needed to drill holes and shoot screws into some spaces too cramped for my 20 volt drills (dewalt, Bosch). This little Dewalt is significanlty lighter and shorter, yet it shoots 3 inch #10 screws into SPF lumber effortlessly. I find it is more pleasant to use than the larger drills. Build quality seems up to the usual Dewalt standards.

Comes with 2 batteries. Powerful enough for usual home tasks. Works well to drill wood and screw nuts. Yet to test on concrete surfaces.
