This is a fantastic multimeter. I have one complaint and one complaint only. But let me begin with all the good things. This is a very capable multimeter. I wanted a meter that could read AC *and* DC amperage in series, and this one does. It's got just about every function one could want. I also like that it: - Reads the frequency of AC - Has holsters for standard leads on the back of the case - Has a screw mount hole on the back of the case - Has a backlight for the screen - Has a flashlight built-in - Can detect (not read) voltage without contact - "Live" feature turns the screen red if you connect the red lead to any voltage source above 80 volts, and displays "LIVE" on the screen - That the screen lights up red any time you're reading a voltage above 80 volts But here's what I do not love about this meter, and why it gets only four stars instead of five: - It has aspirations to become a microwave oven one day What do I mean by this? I mean that it beeps. For everything. Turn the meter on? Beep. Turn the dial to another position? Beep. Press literally any button? Beep. Turn the dial to four positions away? Beep beep beep beep. Literally every single interaction you could possibly do with it makes it beep. The solution to this problem is fairly straightforward, but it involves sacrificing an audible continuity indicator. It has multiple visual indicators, so this is fine. Whilst disassembling the meter, be very careful not to lose the two ball bearings that the rotary dial rotates upon. Also, be careful with the screen; it may be easier to desolder the wires for the screen temporarily. Look for the component labeled BUZ. It will be a black cylinder. Use your soldering iron, and remove it. In case you don't have another meter handy, it's 16 ohms. Find a 10 ohm resistor, and a 6 ohm resistor, and solder them together in series. Solder them to the board in place of the BUZ. When you're reassembling, be careful not to lose those ball bearings, and be careful to make sure the LED for the flashlight slots into the flashlight housing. In continuity mode, there is a green LED indicator just above the screen that will light up; touch your leads together to verify this. You can also just switch it into resistance mode, and look for close to 0 ohms. This meter is appropriate for beginners, but it does not coddle you. For example, when you turn the dial onto voltage mode, the lead positions for voltage mode briefly light up with green LEDs, to indicate where you should plug your leads in. Samesies for amperage mode. But if you know, you know, so that's fine. So I'd say given how inexpensive it is, you get a lot of value for your money with this meter. But before you purchase, just be aware that it does have aspirations to become a microwave oven one day, and you might want to kill its dreams if that drives you as insane as it drove me.

This is to update my previous review. They original one I received was used obviously because it had holes drilled in it! I had a conversation with the seller and they assured me that it was Amazon that sent me a used one and that could not have possibly happened through their distribution. The replacement unit works well. It does meet specifications listed in the manual. The case seems to be of a sufficient quality to make the meter reasonably rugged especially in this price range. The test leads are typical PVC insulation so they're a little stiff and specially in cold weather, but they are functional and what you would expect in this price range so I'm not going to knock them. Optional silicone test leads are available for a few more dollars and I would recommend getting them if you're using this meter for more than hobby or home use. The replacement test leads (not expensive) also come with adapters for various uses and those are handy in many situations even if you are a hobbyist, home tinkerer or a shade tree mechanic. Also the warranty is a plus. 3 years at this price point is unheard of anywhere else. I was impressed enough that I purchased another Kaiweets meter, the peak current inrush reading amp clamp. I was trying to find a model number in the listing but it is the unit that is as of February 25th selling for $89.95. It has also turned out to offer value beyond its price. The meter seems to be rugged and would take a few hits but I wouldn't try throwing it against the wall like you could with a Fluke. Then again you're not paying Fluke prices and if used in the proper setting this meter will last. If you're not going to use a meter for a long time please remove the batteries. Alkaline batteries contrary to some opinion will leak and cleaning that up can go anywhere from being an annoyance to totally destroying the meter. If you're using this in a home setting, hobbyist, shade tree mechanic or light-duty commercial use not involving high energy systems it's a very good value and I think you'll be very happy with it. But as always if you're in an industrial setting and you need cat 3/cat 4 I would go with a proper industrial meter that has had the cat 3/cat 4 rating performed by UL, ETL or in Fluke's case, Fluke's own in-house testing lab. Would you really trust your life in those situations to a product that cost $36? I would hope not. From my previous review: I opened by meter today and it looked good until I turned over the meter to put the batteries in. There are two holes drilled into the kick stand and two holes started but not finished. These are not factory at all and either this was a demo or a used meter recycled as a new unit . Returning for a refund. I purchased a new unit NOT a refurb or return. The box seal shows evidence of being peeled back and replaced. I will not rate accuracy, easy to read, or value for money. I have not looked at any of these. I'm not even bothering with inserting the batteries. If the company will send one out like this, I cannot trust the unit for accuracy nor safety.

This meter is very intuitive! The probe ports light up so there's no guess work to know which ports to use. I store mine in the box that it came in so that it's always protected when not in use. I have several multimeters and this is one of my favorite ones that I own.

I’m an old electronics geek, and between diagnosing broken TVs and appliances, to air conditioning and other things around my house, it seems like I’m using one meter or another every week or so. I have a couple of clamp meters, but they’re never perfect for bench testing. This one was ordered because I had a new TV to repair, and I hate using my clamp meters because I have to struggle to see the display unless it's hanging. They also have small and/or reverse-contrast displays (Kl-ein) and terrible test leads for small electronics. This model of Kaiweets meter got great reviews, and there's good reason for that. This baby solves everything. The display is huge and easy to read. It stands on its own at a perfect angle with a collapsible stand. The batteries are AA and, although you do need a small screwdriver, they’re easy to change. The test leads are nice and rubbery, although I did buy a nice upgraded set , just because it has additional specialty ends that this doesn’t come with. But the test leads that come with this Kaiweets meter are better by far than either of my other big-brand-name meters. I read that a few other reviewers had issues with the AC side of this, even though the DC side worked perfectly. My unit works flawlessly, and I’ve used the AC, DC, and everything else. Voltages, current, diodes, capacitors, and resistors all tested accurately. Oh, and in case you’re spacing out, the two ports that are necessary for whatever you’re testing light up and flash. That way, you don’t use the wrong inputs, which is cool. You do have to hit the function switch to change from AC to DC, and to change from Ohms to Farads to continuity. But the meter is fine, for example, if you set it to Voltage, and then plug into 120V AC while it’s still in DC mode. It will just read 0.000 until you use the function key to switch over to AC. I couldn’t be happier with this meter, and I’m soo glad I got it. Hope this helps!

This meter is a bit larger then I was expecting but it is of a well made solid construction. I had to supply my own batteries but I prefer to use my own leakproof brand anyway in these meters. I read some negative reviews that say either the probe tips are to short to be useful or they are of flimsy construction however the plastic protective tip covers have to be removed first! These covers allow a small portion of the probe tips to protrude so that may convince some people to think that these are not covers but to use them properly you just have to remove these covers! The construction of the probe and cables are of standard durable construction. As for accuracy I had no need to extensively use it yet but I can confirm that it reads 110 voltage correctly, it displays the correct 50 hertz frequency and the continuity tester beep/ohm measurement function works along with the non contact current tester function along with the display light. The fact that the corresponding probe inputs light up in line with the function you select with the dial lets you shut that function of your brain off for a second. All in all I wanted to purchase the best meter at the best price that will suit my needs and I am not disappointed.

Come la maggior parte dei multimetri, l'errore di lettura è elevato sui condensatori di bassa capacità, il mio esemplare nella misura di un condensatore da 100pf, mi da circa 70pf, il condensatore è un ceramico multistrato, che misurato con un ponte RCL di alta precisione mi da 102,5pf. Su capacità più elevate si avvicina, con un errore accettabile, al valore reale. Nell'uso normale è un buon multimetro, economico di facile uso con indicazione della posizione dei puntali per evitare danni e cambio del colore del display quando si misurano tensioni elevate per la sicurezza dell'operatore. La definizione di "professionale", a mio avviso e per la mia esperienza, è un po' azzardata. I multimetri professionali hanno un numero di cifre più elevato, una precisione maggiore e oltre alla funzione massimo/minimo, hanno il tasto Rel che permette di sottrarre un valore dalla lettura per una maggiore precisione, per es. nella misura di resistenze di basso valore si può sottrarre tramite il tasto Rel il valore della resistenza dei cavi dei puntali, inoltre hanno una memoria interna che permette di salvare una serie di letture e una porta seriale, USB, o modulo bluetooth per interfacciare il multimetro con il PC, hanno il tasto mat (funzioni matematiche) ed altre caratteristiche. I prezzi sono elevati. Ho acquistato questo multimetro, per avere uno strumento ben protetto da cadute accidentali per uso quotidiano e dopo averlo testato e confrontato con altri strumenti della stessa fascia, in mio possesso, posso dire che si tratta di un multimetro di prezzo basso con delle buone caratteristiche, che va molto bene sia per lavoro che per uso hobbistico. Non mi posso esprimere sulla durata, questa si vedrà nel tempo. Ho dato 5 stelle per il rapporto prestazioni/prezzo e per l'efficienza del servizio clienti di Amazon.

This thing is an absolute beast, not only by design but also inside. The meassurements are perfect and havent found any faulty meassurement yet. Its easy to use it with those lights at the ports, and i like the frequentie thats been showed when you meassure volts in AC mode. Also the light will turn red, when the voltage is too dangerous, and there is also a torch in it for some light.

EDIT - well it's November 24 a year after buying it and still really happy with it, I've used it for a lot of stuff (other that just guitars) and still impressed with it. I was just passing through as I'm going to be buying another one (amongst other things) for my son whose finally leaving home! I saw a review on here that a chap who's bought one said there is no continuity buzzer. There is, but I didn't know at first either, I found out by a fluke (if you will excuse the pun) when you set the resistance function, it is silent, but press 'FUNC' then you get the reading and the buzzer, if you press func again it'll go into diode reading mode - I think you can cycle this, and I only found out by mistake because I'm ham fisted and pressing buttons willy nilly!! But it does show you on the selector switch you can have the buzzer. The other person whose posted photos of the "wrong leads" well - I don't know what to say - they have protective covers that pull off the end of the lead that goes into the meter socket. I don't think anyone else here has complained about having to remove covers, so I think it's safe to ignore that review, like everyone else has. I'm not an electrician so I don't rely on a meter to earn my money, but I believe most households should have a meter for those little jobs that a DIY'er would be comfortable to do. I paid £40 for this meter (I believe it was even cheaper a few months ago) and I'm really happy with it. It tells you which sockets to connect your leads into for whichever function you want to measure. I do a lot of work on my guitars and it's excellent for continuity and capacitance. It's also great for measuring AC mains and DC for your car. I watched a lot of youtube reviews before I bought and most report that the accuracy is spot on when compared to a Fluke. That's all I really need. If I was a HV electrician and went about measuring current and voltage on substation busbars then I'd probably end up with a Fluke as I'm not sure that the leads are rated at a CAT rating. But then again its horses for courses, for me it's a fantastic meter, easy to read, easy to use, pretty rugged and hopefully long lasting.
