I placed a pre-order of the book that was to be released May 2015. I was very pleased to receive my copy before the release date. As I read the book I can certainly sense the pleasure Mr. Bennett receives by spreading his knowledge of Southeast foraging. I am excited to see that he has a section broken down by seasons. This section is divided by each season and lists plants and where you may find/forage the plant (sunny areas, seashore and coastal areas, woodlands, etc.). Another section of the book profiles plants for guidance and details how to identify, collect, prepare, eat, preserve and harvest each plant part. It also shows that some plants come with warnings. I ordered an extra book and I am so excited to pass it on to a future forager cousin of mine! Review: Perfect for a forager! - The book was in perfect condition and has clear colored pictures and was easy to read. It was the best option for my mother who lives in Georgia and loves learning about edible plants in her backyard. I wish there were more plants as well as more pictures and angles of the plants. Overall a good little book to have!

Note that Not all of Florida is included
I got the book today. The pictures are pretty and clear. There are great descriptions. My only issue is that the description says southeast and included Florida, where I live. However, once I got the book, it only includes northwest Florida. I live in south Florida so this is only helpful if I head that way. Iโm keeping it because Iโm still in the southeast but Iโm disappointed that it Durant really included my area. South Florida is tricky with these regional books. Be mindful and aware when ordering this if you want anything other than the panhandle.

Tailored to my region
It is fairly easy to find books on this subject that cover large areas but may not be as useful in your local area or may not cover plants in your area at all. This book does a good job at spanning the gaps left by the books that cover broader areas. This book covers some plants I'm familiar with and many I'm not, it has great color photographs and does a good job of describing plants that are found in my local area. I would recommend this book to anyone who lives in the region and is interested in the subject.
