Full Tang Unokubitsukuri Carbon Steel Japanese Samurai Tanto Small Sword Short Katana

Im no sword expert, but this is the nicest of the few japanese style blades ive bought precoiusly. So I rated vs my others. This is the only blade that ive ordered that comes with paperwork. I cannot read however, it is in kana. But my other blades did not come with anything of the sort. I cant tell the stingray is authentic but it appears to be around the handle and not just a strip, that ends can be seen, as on some of my cheaper wall hangers. The corded handle wrap is tight and doesnt slide, as well as both ends being invisible. 2 of my blades, the end is just melted on, which will fail. This is well done. The draw is perfect. Its not falling out upside down, but can be drawn without a jerking yank. I always left my other blades a little pulled, so i wouldnt uppercut someone with my draw. This is smoothest of my 3 others. Excited about that. This has apparent laqoured wood sheath. One of my other blades has a synthetic top, if not the whole sheath. There is no hamone line, so i cant judge that. The weight is much lighter than my other tanto, but that has a larger tsuba gaurd. This has a very small tsuba but i didnt want like a cane sword or zatoichi without any gaurd. Without the weight and size of the large tsuba, makes this one ideal for reverse gripping. Im not intending to test the durability of any of my blades, but for how light it is, the blade does have a good spine on the back about half the blade before that tapers down. This happened to be one on a deal vs the other colors but I love purple, so I prefered the one that had a good deal. It looks like it went up after I bought this one.

Smooth, sharp and pretty

Not very sharp. Different than picture but it works for my mantle
