Gladiator GAWU12CCTG Clean-Up Caddy

They need to make this to mount directly on a wall and NOT just their track system. Now I will have to modify it.

After dealing with the initial poor design for years(!) I finally had enough and modified this thing to work as it should have from the beginning. Previously, whenever the paper towel roll would get about half empty, a simple tug would pull it completely off the hinges. Incredibly frustrating to say the least. Armed with a drill, step bit, file, and dowel rod, I fixed the problem.

I purchased this as an accessory for my utility room, to hold paper towels and laundry supplies next to my washing machine. Overall, this unit is easy to assemble, easy to clean, and other than the paper towel holder, performs wonderfully.The paper towel holder, unfortunately, is very poorly designed. It basically consists of two flat arms with large dimples in the center that press into the ends of the roll of paper towel. This design adds a lot of resistance when pulling paper towels, and it doesn't solidly hold the paper towel roll in position. Depending on the type of paper towels you use and how you pull the sheet of paper towel, you might end up tearing a sheet in half trying to tear it at the perforation, or you might pull the whole paper towel roll out of the holder. If you press against the paper towel roll to stop it from turning while you tear a sheet off, you will likely just dislodge the whole roll from the holder.Ultimately, I may end up drilling a hole in the center of the dimples and run a dowel or threaded rod through the center of the paper towel roll to make it into more of a conventional paper towel holder that doesn't have these issues.

This is a great addition to the Gladiator Gearwall. Not only does it hold a roll of paper towels, it holds a variety of bike chain lubes and frame cleaners in the compartment on top. Something to note, the arms that hold the paper towels are very tight so cheap paper towels do not work with this. They just tear when you pull on them. If you loosen the arms by bending them outward the towel roll falls out too easily. There are little bumps on the arms that slip into the ends of the roll and not pronouced, uh, what do you call them, but like your kitchen paper towel holder. They are not that pronouced. Thus the one problem, the arms must be tight which means the roll does not turn well which means you need to buy good quality, blue shop towels so they don’t tear when you try to grab for a towel. I hope that helps.

This item is great. It is very easy to assemble, and it is useful. I have attached it to my rails. It holds a default paper towel roll, in fact, I bought a bunch of the blue shop towels at Costco to load into this. I put the often used chemicals in the top try. It holds your Windex, RainX, and other random bottles quite nicely.Additionally, if you have other GarageWorks stuff, You'll be happy with this purchase as it adds to the good looking organized custom garage.Not affecting the review, of the product, I will note that For some reason when I ordered, it was available, just on some sort of back order, and I had to wait for some time, but I was happy to wait, and it was also about 10 dollars cheaper with Amazon, so it made the most sense. That may have just been a factor of when I ordered it as usually with Prime, I get stuff immediately.

I do not have gladiator rack system installed but bought these anyway. It was easy enough to remove the back mounting tab with a dremmel rather than get aggressive with side grinder and cutoff wheel. I drilled two holes and used drywall screws to install. it holds a standard roll of paper towels or shop towels whichever you prefer using. I also keep soap and hand cleaner in pump containers on top. built very sturdy and I have not had a problem with rolls dislodging from the holder. I would recommend this product for it's ease of use, good ascetic and price point.

I have bought most of this line of garage storage systems. I have all the different cabinets, wall hanging rails and tool hooks. This is the second CleanUp Caddy I have purchased. Overall these are not too bad. The large cabnets keep clutter out of the garage and they look great. The CleanUp Caddy can be moved since it hangs on a wall rail like most of their other hooks and shelves. The only issue I have encountered is the finish. The silver finish and the black & silver finish can be messed up from almost any liquid. The units we have next to the garage sink have permanent stains just from water splashes. Any contact with solvents such as gas, window cleaner, paint, paint thinner, or just about anything else will cause stains or marks that won't go away.

Gladiator stuff is Awesome! I have it in my shed, furnace room, and outside and it has performed flawlessly everywhere. Not the cheapest but good quality

This caddy is super helpful in the garage and the price on Amazon is great. All of the Gladiator stuff I own has been built well and I have no complaints at all with any of it.
