Stays cold longer, better shape and size than a water bottle
I use this for my feet, to soothe the pain from plantar fasciitis. I've tried ice packs, frozen water bottles and occasionally in a pinch, tubs of ice water. Here are the advantages and disadvantages I've found.Pros*Cold roller is colder initially than a frozen water bottle or ice pack and stays cold a lot longer. No ice pack or water bottle I've tried has come close to staying cold as long.*Cold roller has a better shape than a water bottle. It's curve makes it easy to get contact on the entire arch. It's length allows me to do both feet at once. It is firm, unlike an ice pack. Cold roller is superior for getting both cold and compression. Like getting the benefits of cold and a massage at the same time.*It's a lot less messy, and easier to tolerate than sticking your foot into a tub of ice water. Unlike the water bottle, it does not sweat.*It works great when husband and I are out doing errands in the car. As the passenger, I place my foot on the roller to sooth the ache. I've taken water bottles and ice packs with me, but they don't stay cold long enough. The roller does.*So far, about 4 months in, looks new. No leakage. Unlike a few ice packs I've owned, no absorption of odors from the freezer.Cons* It is not cheap. You will probably only own one, and need to remember to put it back in the freezer.* Its size, while perfect for my purposes, is larger than a water bottle or ice pack. How full is your freezer?* It works great for a day trip in the car. But mostly this works well at home. I would hesitate to take it on longer trips because of it's size. Will it fit in the freezer where you are going?* It is hard, making it great for cold compression of the arches and calves, something an ice pack cannot do. Worked well with feet, and calves. Other areas.....the roller may not be wide enough. If you want passive icing to a larger surface area, an ice pack would mold more easily to necks, shoulders etc.* When you first take the roller out of the freezer, skin does not move easily over it because instead of condensation, there is a then layer of frost. Not a big deal really unless you are in a really big hurry.

Perfect for feet/plantar fasciitis
I must say that I've tried all the trigger point products and have been disappointed in all of them due to their prices and effectiveness. I much prefer the stick as it's cheaper and does a much better job for nearly everything. This item is definitely a keeper though. I've started icing and rolling out the bottoms of my feet after every run and have really noticed a difference. This item still has the same limitations (at least for me) as the quadballer and footballer. That is, I end up having to do an entire upper body workout just to effectively get my calves, hamstrings, and thighs. It's a bit expensive for plantar fasciitis treatment, but for me it's worth it.

Pricey, but effective
My husband and I are runners. My husband currently has a couple of injuries and has been in PT for them for 2 months. I gave him this for Christmas, even though it is $$ and we already have various other rollers. He LOVES IT. One thing that makes it convenient, is he can use it on a hard-surface chair and doesn't have to get down in the floor (his injury is high-hamstring/piriformis region). Sometimes after my runs I can actually feel hot spots on my legs, the cold therapy added to the roller really helps. I have their Grid Roller, as well, which has been my best running-friend for a couple of years. I still prefer it for a thorough rolling, but this cold roller really helps to target specific problems. I docked one star for price. Why on earth is this thing $100?

Does not work nearly as well as advertised.
I have used a number of foam rollers and purchased this because I am a firm believer in cold therapy and deep tissue massage therapy. The principal behind this product was to combine the two for a perfect foam roller. I have used it after cycling, running, and lifting weights. Unfortunately, this roller does neither cold nor deep tissue massage very well. I am disappointed that Amazon does not allow for return on used items that do not meet their claims.

Doesn't perform as advertised
Doesn't perform as advertised. I got this for a gift and my sister just told me she didn't really like it. So I borrowed it from her to see what I thought. The first problem is the first instruction - to wipe it down with a warm washcloth - it just sticks to it and doesn't wipe off the frost hardly at all. Then I got down on the floor to perform the trigger point therapy. It was hard to get it just to the right spot, and when you do, you must keep rolling, so you don't have a chance to allow the muscle to release. I actually got more tense just trying to do the exercise. I gave it two stars because it does work well on my feet - but I could do just as well with them on a frozen bag of peas! This is NOT worth the money.

Worth the price!
I've dealt with plantar fasciitis for over a year. Was tired of rolling with a frozen water bottle so I splurged and got this. It is well worth the money! It stays cold for hours and I'm able to roll my feet and calves. It allows for a deeper massage than a water bottle. I have noticed marked improvement in my foot pain after rolling with this product.I am a big fan of all Trigger Point products. Highly recommend.

great for plantar fasciitis.
This product was recommended to me by someone with plantar fasciitis because they knew I was a fellow sufferer. I wondered why on earth should I pay this much when I can continue using my frozen water bottle. Well, after using hers I saw why. First, you can get both of your feet on there at once. Second, it does not get the floor wet eliminating the need for the towel that always slips around making me "chase" my frozen water bottle. Next, it is easy to find in the freezer and folks won't keep throwing it away. It has helped and I actually enjoy using it so I use it more often.

Even though it's expensive, I feel the benefits of it every time I use it.
Cold and useful. I love this cold roller. It stays cold for a long time allowing for extended rolling sessions. It's big enough to do the whole leg from hips to foot. It does take up a bit of room in the freezer due to it's large size.
