Children's Choice Award winner Bethany Barton applies her signature humor to the scariest subject of all: math! Do multiplication tables give you hives? Do you break out in a sweat when you see more than a few numbers hanging out together? Then I'm Trying to Love Math is for you! In her signature hilarious style, Bethany Barton introduces readers to the things (and people) that use math in amazing ways -- like music, and spacecraft, and even baking cookies! This isn't a how-to math book, it's a way to think differently about math as a necessary and cool part of our lives! Review: I reali enjoyed it! - I read everything book to be surge my Kids will like it. Iโm an adult that struggled with Math as a child and I will go beyond to help my little ones to enjoy and to understand why it is important. This book was so nice, I felt it spoke to my inner girl and she was so pleased. I canโt wait to share it with my kids. Review: Awesome book - I teach 2nd grade and when I was in elementary school I hated math, therefore I try really hard to make math fun and engaging. This book is so fun! I love it, there are so many awesome and interesting connections between math and 'real' life. I will say 2nd grade is a little young, it's probably better for 4th-6th grade because some of the connections are little more advanced.

I'm Trying To Love Math
Review: I removed a star as there was so much information that it wasnโt as fun of a read for me (and I personally enjoy math). This might be a good storytime read for older kids, unless theyโd likely get overloaded by information. It was kind of funny and could be more fun with an energetic reader. It was cool to see how many different basic things that everyone knows/knows about use math though! Summary: What's so great about math? Let's show this alien that there are much better things on earth than that...

Inspiring & Relevant Childrenโs Read aloud!
Such a fantastic book! Perfect for a read aloud, as it fosters lots of conversation ! I read this one to a group of 3rd graders and they couldnโt stop talking... They were able to draw parallels between themselves and the 2 voices of this story. This book helps children to see that Math is a bigger part of their lives than they may have realized: cooking, music, nature. Awesome read!

Terrific book
We loved this book. Its funny, interactive (think Captain Underpants' flip-o-rama), and makes what can be a challenging subject for children approachable and lighthearted. Ms. Barton takes the reader through a number of real world topics (musical notation, recipes, maps) that have math at their core and makes it much more relatable. Full disclosure: My 10yo already loves math, and enjoyed this immensely. :)

A silly book
This book illustrates what is wrong with math education. It uses badly executed pictures (that look like drawn by a 7 years old) silly texts (that look like composed by a 9 years old) to try to - supposedly - describe what math is about. I purchased it to use with my middle school students (ages 11-13) - but it insults their intelligence. I was then thinking to use it with my 7 years old granddaughter - but it is too silly even for her. Thanks Heavens, Amazon has a pretty flexible return policy and the Purolator drop off box is close by. PS: To make my day even more disappointing, when I tried to find an envelope where I could fit this book to return it, I found out the format of the book to be quite tricky to be fitted inside normal large size envelopes.
