Defective or maybe just a piece of junk
Very disappointed with this item. Sound was very poor, subwoofer seemed to drop out repeatedly. Had to turn bass down as low as possible to watch TV, because the subwoofer dropping out was highly distracting. Audio wouldn't stay in sync with video, despite repeated attempts to adjust using built-in in sync feature. Would adjust, it would seem to be back in sync -- but within moments, it would suddenly be way out of sync again. Music played via any input would skip, whether streaming or being played directly from a device. Bluetooth (one of the reasons I bought this item) would not stay connected when the device was turned on -- but would automatically connect to my phone as soon as the soundbar was turned off. And then when I would turn the bar back on, it would disconnect! Trying to return as defective but I stupidly threw away the packaging before realizing it was a total waste of money. Surprised because it has a 4-star rating. Lesson learned to read all the 1-star reviews, as those described exactly what I experienced with this stinker.

Okay; BUT
Good= I am giving it three stars because it is a beautiful system that fits perfectly in my room. Bad= The sub woofer don't work, I have been online, looking things up, but there is no light, the piece doesn't work and when you buy something new, you don't think they will send you something defective. Thing is, the rest of the system sounds good, so that is why I gave three stars even though I have to try to send this piece back and I ordered it online, my fault for trying to save a few bucks.

Temper your expectations, but it is really good for it's price
I'm not an audiophile. I just wanted something that was an upgrade from my tv speakers (Samsung PN60F8500). It's not a full sound system, but it is a significant upgrade over the tv internal speakers. The HDMI ARC capababilty is huge plus. I've had it over six months so I can say that it does not always turn on automatically when you turn on your tv even when using ARC (9 out of 10 times it does), but I use a macro on my logitech remote (a harmony 300) to turn them both on at the same time to get around this (there is still a 5 second delay or so). The distance b/w the subwoofer and the sound bar makes a difference in making a connection between the two. As other reviewers have noted, 5-6 feet is optimal, otherwise it cuts out, it takes a little bit of time to find this optimal distance, but I've found a happy place now (it didn't take that much time). It does not support DTS which is a little more annoying than i expected (a lot of movies/shows support DTS but not Dolby), but it is clear that DTS is not supported. It shines when whatever you are playing supports Dolby Digital (I watched "We Were Soldiers Once" on Netflix which supported Dolby surround sound and it really shined). Stereo mode is still a significant upgrade over tv speakers. You can't turn the bass setting all the way up, the subwoofer will come in and out. I think I have the bass set at 0, treble at +4, sound at clear and surround sound turned on and have found that is perfect for me. For the price, I really am happy with it, but I am not an audiophile and I think you if are expecting a full surround sound audio experience then you will be disappointed, but if you really just want a very significant upgrade over your crappy flat-screen internal speakers at a good price, then you will be pleasantly surprised. As added information, I also have a Panasonic ST50 plasma tv which had better speakers and I am not moved enough to purchase this sound bar for that TV. The Panasonic's internal speakers are much better than the Samsung PN60F8500 (more than good enough for me). don't get me wrong, this sound bar would still be a good upgrade, but not enough for me. If I wanted to upgrade the speakers on that tv, then I would want a better sound bar to make enough of a difference (which would cost a lot more money).

that is easy to setup and simple to use
Well, I decided to gift my wife a soundbar, that is easy to setup and simple to use. But, that doesn't seem to match well with the choice of getting this soundbar. + Easy to setup(Of course, only the main unit) + Simple remote + Decent sound for the price - Setting up the Subwoofer - Interference with the WiFi signal Coming to the bad things Biggest problem is setting up the Subwoofer at right location/distance from the main unit.. I tried placing the Subwoofer in many different places. It never used to have a stable connection with the main unit. Finally found something that the instruction manual talks about the recommended position to place the Subwoofer. I kept the Subwoofer close enough(3 feet with +2/-2 inches) to the main unit it started getting the stable connection. Even deviating few inches seems to cause trouble. When this setup worked, I never dared to try experimenting. I noticed, the bluetooth connection from the iPhone drops sometimes, when the Subwoofer is struggling for the stable connection with main unit. After placing the Subwoofer at right place, the phone never got disconnected and seems to work well. I am not 100 percent sure if this is true; but based on my observation since setting up this Soundbar, definitely there is some problem that keeps the main unit to drop the bluetooth connection with your Bluetooth input. Hope this shouldn't be the case with AUX or other input sources. Next problem is, when you power-on the main unit, it does take a while for the Subwoofer to connect with the main unit. sometimes even it takes more than 10 mins. That is annoying and spoils the fun. The final problem: It does gets interfere with the WiFi router. My tests showed, the Wifi speed drops drastically near the unit. Unit lives in the living room and iPhone shows <5Mbps in living room; whereas in bedroom the speed goes more than 30Mbps. Turning off the unit, does improve the things little bit. I haven't tried unplugging the unit completely, before testing the speed. But, definitely there is some interference with the WiFi. Final thoughts Nevertheless, the soundbar does its jobs of producing a decent sound. My wife does enjoys listening music and except for Subwoofer-> main unit connection complaint, she's happy wiht the Soundbar. The volume is loud enough for the small sized room. The Subwoofer is not so great, but far better than the plain TV. You could feel the subwoofer playing the role of generating those low frequency sound. This is a good soundbar, provided you got the right setup. Otherwise, it is a nightmare and doesn't score well. For the price, it is a decent Soundbar with reasonably good sound.

Easylink and Bluetooth problems.
I tried this product and found multiple aspects lacking, so I returned it. I hooked it up with my 46" Phillips TV about 3yrs old, which comes with "EasyLink" ARC technology and got NO sound. Easylink recognized the sound bar and the volume buttons worked well... just wouldn't pump sound through the HDMI cable... I finally did get sound through a coaxial audio cable. (I thought the quality was pretty muffled, but maybe it would have been better with the HDMI cable.) Second, before I boxed it back up, I tested the bluetooth from my phone to the sound bar and it skipped every 2 seconds. Very disappointed.

Ehhhhhh
I have had the item for just about two years now. The subwoofer is in a constant state of connecting and disconnecting. I have to unplug it and plug it back in nearly weekly. As for the main sound bar it has begun crackling and cant even go 3-4 seconds of use without making noise. It does have an attractive design but It does not function as it should.

Useless if you have DirecTV, frustrating if you use Bluetooth.
I really regret this purchase. First, I intermittently have dialogue bleed into the subwoofer, which sounds awful, apparently due to some problem with how it routes different frequencies. The only thing that fixes that is unplugging the subwoofer and leaving it unplugged for a while before plugging it back in. Second, I'm constantly having to re-pair it with my Bluetooth devices. Seriously annoying. Third, and this is a big one, it cannot be controlled by a DirecTV remote control through the use of a code because Phillips apparently didn't think of that, making it nearly useless to me for use with my TV. I'll keep for music in a spare room, but that's it.
