Primary Phonics: Set 2

These are wonderful books that encourage independent learning and are used in many Montessori classrooms. They have no instructions, but build on top of one another. Also, the workbook that is sold by itself corresponds with the story books. Maria Montessori says to teach writing before reading. Unfortunately, since the workbooks are all in the same format, but have different words in them....my daughter wasn't excited to do book 2, because it looked too similar to book 1. She was bored with it.

Primary phonics is a series that is used in Montessori education. The reading storybooks go with their workbooks. It is used to teach reading, phonemic awareness and each set is to reinforce a reading concept. IE: Workbook 2 goes with storybook 2 and it reinforces the silent "e" at the end of words. Children learn by repetition and how best to give them not only repetition but also repetition in ONE concept at a time.

I love this set for it's simplicity and there aren't a million obnoxiously hard sight words. It is clear cut, to the point, and helps give targeted review over specific grammar topics (silent e, oa, ea, etc...) Primary Phonics are the best phonics review books I've found so far, and I own over 100 introductory phonics books (10 or 12 total sets). There's no fluff, just practice and repetition for your beginning reader.

This is a great series for helping early readers. Much better then most easy readers we’ve found at the library. I highly recommend the companion workbooks!

Great way to continue the learning to read process with you kids. My sons Kindergarten class used these and they worked wonderful. When my daughters kinder class did not use them, we bought our own. They had her reading in a week! Set 2, is a great way to expand on the beginning readers skill set and help them gain confidence in their reading skills!

I am a kindergarten teacher and have taught many children to read with the Primary Phonics series. If children start with book one of the first set and continue on through set four, they will be able to read. If you are going to use Primary Phonics books to teach your child to read, be sure your child knows all the letter sounds first; then have your child read each book to you at least twice. Supplement with Bob Books or other early readers.

This is a great series for supplemental use at home. The story books that go with them are better than most other learn to read series. The phonics workbooks are sequential and kids can do a few pages in one sitting without getting bored. This series really helped my 5 year old.

This is perfect for little beginners. I would recommend. Easy to read and the repetition of the words helps the kids remember them.

The same as Set 1, ok if a child needs a bit of reading support in early years, but they're in black and white and are not very exciting or engaging. I use them for back up take home reading books.

Very good book, price is a bit high.

Used these when I was a child. My 5 year old son is building his confidence with this second set. Great set of readers.
