The iconic Mexico 66 was born in 1966 and debuted at the 1968 Olympic games pre-trials in Mexico with a premium white leather, stitched with red and blue tiger stripes. Today, the classic runner has been reawakened and remains to be the most popular shoe in the Onitsuka Tiger collection. Award yourself a gold medal in the retro-cool sneaker competition wearing the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66. Introduced in 1966, this was the first shoe with the famous tiger stripes and worn at the Olympic games in Mexico in 1968. History lessons aside, this is one sweet sneak with a tonal leather and suede upper, soft lining and traction-loving outsole. Since 1949, Onitsuka Tiger has created stylish sports products inspired by the Japanese values of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Through their crafts, Onitsuka Tiger brings together East and West, and demonstrates what it means to be "Made of Japan." Review: The ONLY review you should read!!! 8/2/17!!! - After reading most of the reviews, I was hesitant on a few things. Some said it fits a size too small because it's leather, some said it felt cheap and flimsy, a lot of people said that it does not have arch support, even fake, some said since it's 2017, these models are worst than the original. Quality 10/10 I bought from the Onitsuka Tiger seller on desertcart, what I received was the genuine, made in Indonesia pair of Onitsuka's. From another review, the ones that are made in Vietnam are of the poor quality, these one's on desertcart are the real deal. The leather seems of good quality, I cannot judge 100% as of now since I've owned them for a few hours but they seem alright. I don't know about everyone else but mines actually came with arch support soles. It felt awkward at first but once I got used to them they are super comfortable. The laces are of high quality, it's not your usual shoe lace, it feels a bit more soft and less tight feeling. The bottom sole is flat which I love, I wore these to the gym and they are great to squat in. I LOVE the retro look, these are timeless and personally a must own. One of the best pair of shoes I've ever purchased. Get this gem before it disappears forever! Review: How could a shoe from the 1966 Olympics be any good in the 21st century - I bought this shoe for it's appearance, positive reviews and historical significance. Ontisuka shoes are famous. At first I was a bit skeptical. How could a shoe from the 1966 Olympics be any good in the 21st century? The answer is some things are designed properly from their inception and last the test of time. This shoe is an example of that. Just like a 66' Shelby Cobra or the metal prop rod used to hold up the hood of your automobile, this shoe remains a competitive idea even today. Apart from the fact these shoes squeak like crazy on wet floors and cause one to imagine they are in a scene from Police Academy where Micheal Winslow is simulating squeaking noises, these make a very good daily active shoe. The sole is very thin and I made sure to order about a half size smaller for optimum fit. I usually wear a 91/2m US but a 9m US in this shoe fits me like a glove... (or in this case a well fitting shoe). These shoes are not made for rain or wet conditions. Think of this shoe like a sports car, minimalist and purpose built. If your goal is heel and toe down-shifting in your sports car, look no further. These shoes offer great feel. They are stylish, well made and are pretty comfortable, but adding a Dr. Scholl's gel heel support makes them about perfect. So apart from the embarrassing wet floor squeaky aspect and lack of traction in the wet, these are a great performing shoe. Kinda pricey though. An Adidas Samba or Gazelle are about half the price and probably just as effective but not nearly as unique or aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. .

Great shoe for the fashion-seeking hard worker who's light on their feet
Supah dank retro shoe. The only problems I've had with this sneaker are: - The insole is non-removable. - Because of this, if the insole is not properly glued to the inside of the shoe there can be a sticky sensation and sound of the insole attaching and detaching from the shoe when you take your weight off of it. This was right under the arch of the left foot for me. However, the sound it makes is quiet and would most likely go away if you put baby powder in the area or just wear it in. - A little too large; if you are unsure between two sizes definitely go down half a size. I am between 11.5 and 12 and I bought the size 12 because it was cheaper. Consequently I have just under two centimeters of space in my left shoe at the toe - and my left foot is a little larger than my right, so that is where some uncomfort came from. - Little ventilation, but that is a small problem that could be easily solved if you felt like making little precise holes on the sides. However, in any other way this shoe is amazing: - Slim as well as "vertically compressed" like a low-top Converse shoe. I like the light and slim feeling on my foot because I feel like a ninja - you feel mobile when wearing this. - Low profile and minimalistic outsole, somewhat like a track spike. Personally, I really appreciate the history behind this shoe; premiering in the 1968 Mexico Olympics as a track spike gives this shoe a personality and sense of durability that can be hard to find with newer fashion sneakers. - The Birch India Latke leather with suede reinforced toe cap and heel give this shoe (as mentioned above) a sense of durability. There is plenty of room in the toe area, and paired with the suede reinforcement one feels safer working outside with these than many other fashion sneakers and sneakers in general. - The "+" pattern outsole is super grippy. I would hike and rock climb in these any day instead of heavy boots. Supah dank.

Durable, comfortable, and rad!
Apart from sizing a little on the tight side (consider ordering a half-size up if your feet are on the larger end of the size you normally wear), these are everything I wanted them to be. They're super-comfortable (which I've come to expect from Onitsuka) and (also meeting my Onitsuka expectations) very well-made. Tigers last as long or longer than Vans (which really is something special). In fact, until a couple of years ago, I wore Vans exclusively--because their longevity could not be matched (in that price point). But I have officially switched to Onitsuka Tigers (for their longevity, comfort, and style. You really can't go wrong with these (except, perhaps, for ordering the wrong size). Note: These shoes are the opposite of non-slip. On ice and wet floors, they are noticeably MORE slippery than other shoes. On linoleum or tile floors, water might as well be Astro-Glide. EDIT, FOUR MONTHS AFTER POSTING THIS INITIAL REVIEW: I still love them. On the outside, they're still in great shape. They almost look new, except for some wrinkles in the leather--a result of it taking the shape of my foot. One drawback I did not consider: They're leather, so heat and moisture have nowhere to go. At the end of a long day (waiting tables) my feet come out of these shoes smelling like they never have with any other pair of shoes. My recommendation: Don't wear them when you're going to be on your feet running around like a maniac for six to eight hours without an opportunity to remove them and let your feet (and the shoes) breathe.

wrong size; lovely product
The product looked fine. They sent the men's size instead of the women's size that I requested.

The original shoe with the Asics double-stripes
This is a very comfortable sneaker. I typically wear minimalist shoes. I've tried the fabric version of these and a few other Onitsuka Tiger models, which are usually on the loose side (my foot just slid around inside several of them). These leather shoes are more fitted at the arch and sides of the toe box (but not too short in length or tight across the toe box), and I would feel much more comfortable working out in these. The sole is thin, with an allover miniature nub texture and a very slight increase in heel height. There is a low arch support. It basically has a flexible rubber sole with a thin, perforated sockliner. The white leather looks nice, though the suede toe cap looks like it will mark up, if you're not careful. As others mentioned, and like most shoes from that time, there is a bit of time required for these to break in. I wore them around the house a few days, and there was some rubbing on my Achilles, but after a couple of days (just wearing them a little each afternoon), the leather stretched to fit my foot. I would prefer that the heel tab stay folded down, but it will flip up on you quite a bit, until you've worn them quite a few times. You could use binder clips or something to help the fold set. These are nice enough for a casual look with chinos or more dressed up look with nicer jeans, and lots of folks comment on how cool/nice they look. They're relatively cheap, compared to other minimalist shoes, and they really are comfortable, once you break them in. If they were to get too dirty to wear as a casual shoe, I wouldn't have any qualms about wearing them to the gym as a basic workout shoe.

LOVE these shoes!
I have numerous problems with foot pain, so I have a hard time finding shoes that meet my needs and are not ugly as homemade soup. These Onitsuka Tigers are absolutely fantastic for me! * Lightweight shoe - feels like you're wearing nothing at all! * Minimal arch support - I have flat feet. Most arch supports make my feet ache within a couple of hours. The Tiger has a very minimal arch support, and what's there is very soft. I have had no pain in my arches from these shoes. * Low profile - I also suffer from Achilles Tendon Bursitis, so I wear clogs most of the time to avoid aggravating it. These shoes are low enough in the back that they don't hurt my tendons at all. * Stylish! This is a HUGE bonus for me. These shoes are very cool looking. I get a lot of compliments on them and people always ask where I got them because you just don't see these around. They are very unique! * Great for multiple activities. The Tiger makes a wonderful walking shoe, and I've even worn them to Zumba and have had great results. I don't have anything negative to say about these shoes. I'd like to own about 100 more pairs!

Very happy with this purchase
Very happy with this purchase. I was looking for a casual driving type shoe, similar to Puma. I wanted an old school shoe that still had some style to it, was narrow, and flat. This fit the bill. Because of these qualities, this is a specific shoe that might not fit everyone. So let's get to the pros/cons: Pros: - Awesome, classic styling. I get comments on them from people from time to time wondering what brand they are. - After wearing them for several months, leather seems to be holding up, along with the suede portions. - Narrow fit that feels snug. This is great as I have a bit more narrow feet than others. These fit perfect. - Size was appropriate. I've worn 10's all my life and these fit exactly as others. Cons: - Not a con for me at all, but wide feet beware. These are fairly narrow. - Some of the material feels a bit thin. I am worried about wear over time, but for now it is holding up. Overall, I've very please with this shoe. Not sure how, but I got these (black/white pair) for $33. I see the price is now normally around $60. Not sure I'd be pleased paying over $50 for these, as I feel that's the maximum I'd pay for a shoe like this, because I just don't see them holding up with daily use for several years. If you can find them for a bit under $60, I think it's absolutely worth it.

Original onitsuka
The shipping was fast received the order 3 weeks earlier than expected considering it from Japan. I love onitsuka I have 2 other pairs that I bought from my home country I’ve used those in so many trips with a lot of walking involved and my feet never hurt it’s also simple yet stylish which makes it easy to wear anything. Its hard to find a pair here in Canada not unless you’re going to order from ontitsuka official site plus shipping which I believe is more expensive.
